We're hiring a detail-driven Accountant/Bookkeeper to own the day-to-day financial record-keeping for a growing equipment rental operation in our Sonora branch.
This role is focused on rental invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, equipment asset tracking, depreciation, reconciliations, and month-end close, not just general ledger work.
You'll work directly with leadership to maintain accurate financial records, support healthy cash flow, and provide timely financial reporting for a business built around physical assets.
This is a fully remote, long-term opportunity for someone who enjoys ownership, organization, and improving financial processes within a growing company.
TYPICAL WORKFLOW
Daily

Process invoices.

Record accounting transactions.

Categorize expenses.

Monitor overdue customer balances.

Respond to vendor inquiries and internal ClickUp tasks.

Coordinate with Operations regarding rental contracts and billing.
Weekly

Complete bank and credit card reconciliations.

Perform AR collections follow-up.

Review AP due dates.

Update fleet asset records.
Monthly

Complete month-end close.

Prepare reconciliations.

Record depreciation.

Deliver the monthly financial package (PL, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).

Document unusual variances for leadership.
Quarterly

Assist with Sales Use Tax preparation.

Participate in financial review meetings.

Compensation:
$10 hourly
Responsibilities:
Accounting & Bookkeeping

Maintain the General Ledger.

Perform monthly bank, credit card, and equipment loan/lease reconciliations.

Record daily financial transactions.

Maintain organized, audit-ready accounting records.

Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
Accounts Receivable
-
Generate and distribute rental invoices.
-
Monitor Accounts Receivable aging.
-
Follow up on overdue customer balances.
-
Apply incoming customer payments.
-
Resolve billing discrepancies.
-
Escalate delinquent accounts when appropriate.
Accounts Payable
-
Process vendor invoices.
-
Manage recurring operating expenses.
-
Coordinate payment schedules.
-
Maintain organized vendor documentation.
Fleet Accounting

Track rental fleet assets.
-
Maintain depreciation schedules.
-
Reconcile rental revenue against equipment scheduling and dispatch records.
Financial Reporting

Prepare monthly: Profit and Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Reports, and AR Aging Reports.

Identify unusual variances, collection risks, or cash flow concerns before they become problems.

Assist leadership with financial reporting and business decisions.
Compliance

Assist with quarterly Sales Use Tax preparation.

Coordinate year-end documentation with the company's CPA.

Maintain financial documentation supporting audits and company compliance (including DVBE documentation when applicable).
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

English Fluency (written and spoken): C2+ Professional written English suitable for vendor and leadership communication.

Proven experience with US Companies (California Accounting, Sales, and Tax Law, Regulations, AR/AP process).

3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.

Experience in equipment rental, construction, logistics, trucking, or another asset-heavy industry strongly preferred.

Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (or willingness to complete a proficiency assessment).

Intermediate to advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (Pivot Tables, formulas, reporting).
