We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join the team. In coordination with the wider engineering team, you will be responsible for developing the Artsy platform, with a focus on the infrastructure and developer tooling that enables our product teams.
Our platform is continuously changing, and this role will play a key part in shaping how we evolve and scale our systems. For example, this role is expected to devise and implement solutions related, but not limited to, Kubernetes clusters, availability SLOs, PostgreSQL instances, MongoDB Atlas instances, RabbitMQ Queues, and data pipelines orchestrated by Airflow, as well as the infrastructure underpinning them. The platform is core to Artsy’s ability to ship reliably and efficiently, and this role will work collaboratively to define the systems, practices, and tooling required to run a world-class product.
This role is fully remote, and we're open to candidates located anywhere across the LATAM region.
You’ll shape how we run Kubernetes on AWS, focusing on scalability, reliability, and usability, and improving cluster architecture, deployment patterns, and operational practices.
You’ll design and improve CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows to enable fast, safe, and repeatable deployments.
Manage our cloud infrastructure and resources using Terraform
You’ll work cross-functionally with product engineers to understand their needs and enable them through tooling, automation, and best practices.
Help manage our Cloudflare configuration including DNS, WAF, and other Cloudflare product offerings.
Work with multiple languages, including Python, scripting languages, JavaScript/TypeScript, Ruby, and C#. We do not expect you to have used all these languages (we expect most of your time will be spent using Python and scripting languages), but we do expect a willingness to support and contribute to code bases using them.
Act as the in-house expert on networking issues
Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture that works in the open and assumes good intent from colleagues.
Evaluate complex systems and suggest, design, and implement improvements up and down the tech stack.
You enjoy building and evolving platforms that enable other engineers to move faster and more safely.
You have experience working with Kubernetes in production environments (ideally EKS on AWS).
You have strong experience with CI/CD systems and believe in automation-first workflows.
You have worked in a platform or infrastructure role where you provided both tooling and guidance to product teams.
You understand how to deliver business value with sound technical decision-making and can communicate trade-offs to different audiences.
You are comfortable owning systems and working collaboratively with others to ensure they can use those systems successfully.
You can comfortably troubleshoot networking and transport layer issues and leverage the tooling necessary to do so at scale.
Have experience with observability tooling (e.g., Datadog, GCP Logging, etc)
Have experience optimizing cloud infrastructure for cost and performance
Have experience with security best practices in cloud-native environments
Have experience with cloud migrations
Have experience with Windows Servers
Have experience with Lucene search, e.g., Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, SOLR
Have experience diagnosing issues with data pipelines and airflow
Prefer working in isolation rather than collaborating with product teams
You are unwilling to support and contribute to code bases written in languages with which you are not already familiar.
Expect platform teams to operate as a ticket-driven service layer
Are not interested in improving developer experience or enabling others
Prefer manual processes over automation and CI/CD-driven workflows
Develop a strong understanding of Artsy’s platform, Kubernetes clusters, and CI/CD systems
Contribute to evolving how Kubernetes is operated and scaled within AWS
Identify and deliver improvements to developer workflows, deployment systems, and platform reliability
Partner with product teams to increase their autonomy and effectiveness
We know no one is a perfect match on paper, so if you’re passionate about this role, please apply! We’re excited to learn how your skills, experiences, and insights could make a difference.
Please Note: We can only accept applications from those eligible to live and work in . We are unable to sponsor visas for this position.

Artsy's engineering principles are open source. We encourage knowledge building and sharing within the larger tech community through open source software, blog posts, and other free resources. Artsy would rather proudly discover (and improve) an existing tool than build it ourselves from scratch. Through our work, we try to create more value than we capture. That means that when we learn something new, we try to share that knowledge through blog posts and open source documentation. A successful candidate will bring their own unique perspective to help us achieve this mission.
Artsy has five core values that will inform your experience at Artsy.
For the Love of Art: We show relentless curiosity, empathy, and passion for collectors, artists, gallerists, and the art market. We take action to make the art world more fair and welcoming.
Own Our Outcomes: We are all individual owners of Artsy’s shared success. We are resourceful and resilient, and to get the job done, we each take responsibility for our outcomes.
Lead with Openness: We trust in our teammates. We seek diverse perspectives, communicate authentically, and act with integrity. A more open art world starts with us.
Transform Together: Our mission asks us to challenge the status quo. We embrace feedback, learning, and change so that we can transform our industry, our company, and ourselves.
Impact Over Perfection: Using both art and science, we debate and decide swiftly and iterate on our plans as we learn. To make the biggest impact, we prioritize speed and clarity of action over perfection.
Artsy is an equal opportunity employer. We value a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, marital status, disability, and veteran status.
Compensation Range: $84K - $96K
