We are looking for an Engineer I, R&D Product Development to join our Bermudez Team.
How You'll Help Us Connect the World
Support product stewardship, issue resolution, cost optimization, and lifecycle support, while also working on new designs and extensions. The ideal candidate works with autonomy or minimal supervision, possesses good problem-solving skills, with ability to identify cost-effective solutions, and influences product and process decisions while working closely with cross-functional teams.
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or career related.
- +1 year of relevant experience in product development.
- Proficiency in leading CAD software such as CREO, SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of 2D drafting and GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and sustaining engineering principles.
- Familiarity with PLM (Product life cycle management) systems.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken, +80%).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Create documentation of product requirements based on industry standards.
- Support designs of new components and assemblies.
- Create documentation to support the release of new and modified products.
- Support the optical and mechanical testing of fiber optic products.
- Work with Manufacturing on process development and introductions of new products into Manufacturing.
- Perform data analysis and evaluation.
- Leads and maintains project scopes, tracks Product Development projects, and ensures timely completion of project timelines and milestones.
- Conducts Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to assess product criticality and ensure design robustness.
- Perform engineering changes in conformance to company, customer, agency and industry specifications and standards.
Collaboration and Communication
- Accountable to Engineering Management in support of the business unit growth objectives.
- Collaboration with current staff which includes other engineers and technicians in team.
- Collaborates with global design centers and manufacturing sites to resolve design and manufacturing issues, ensuring effective communication and problem-solving.
- Develop awareness of corporate, business unit and quality management system documentation.
- Develop awareness of relevant industry standards for fiber optic products.
- Develop awareness of the range of lab test equipment.
- Develop knowledge of fiber optic products and technical principles.
Skills Required
- Solid knowledge and skilled user of 3D CAD software.
- Knowledge of Product Development Process.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of design for manufacturing sheet-metal & Plastic components.
- Skilled at planning and ability to pay attention to details.
- Ability to effectively work within a team environment.
