DRiV is the aftermarket business group of Tenneco - DRiV website
The Aftermarket Engineer is responsible for helping supplement the EC new product introduction (NPI) program within the product engineer team. The position will require the candidate to learn the NPI process and become well versed in aftermarket EC product design for manufacturability. The candidate must have the ability to make self-directed product design decisions and work autonomously throughout the product development process. The candidate will also help support strategic projects that include product consolidation and simplification, potential innovation initiatives, prototype and test department support, converter testing and development, and cross-functional team support (purchasing, marketing, and manufacturing).
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions as defined by the ADA, except those that begin with the word ‘may”.)
The Aftermarket Engineer is responsible for the support of the Driv organization. This work may include:
- EC new product design
- Value engineering of products
- Designs developed through suppliers
- Validation testing where applicable
- Quality/inspection requirements
- Failure analysis
- Purchasing and marketing support
- Customer interfacing
- Supplier interfacing
- Simultaneous engineering support for the manufacturing plant.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, prefer Mechanical
- 3-5 years of experience in product development and CAD design support.
- Must have experience in design of exhaust / emission control components and products.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles, practices, and processes.
- Strong written and oral communications skills to include presentation skills.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information with all levels of employees and groups.
- Possess project management skills.
- Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, SPC, R&R, FMEA, failure analysis.
- Analytical trouble shooting and problem solving (root cause analysis, effective problem solving, etc.).
- Excellent computer skills to include knowledge of MS Office, Catia, CAD software, & SAP GPDM
- Writes business correspondence, technical specifications, test reports, etc.
- Analytical abilities necessary to plan and prioritize own work, complete work on schedule and maintain required records and logs.
