General Description
Mechanical Engineering for New Product Development (ME NPD) is responsible for participating in, evaluating, planning, executing, and delivering new product introductions from G4 to G7 according to schedule, without generating disruptions or losses in regular production. This role is responsible for influencing R&D teams to ensure robust product designs that eliminate or reduce health and safety issues while improving and/or maintaining quality and productivity. It actively participates with the Juárez team in all new product introductions from G0 to G7.
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, quoting, purchasing, validating, and implementing the appropriate processes, tools, fixtures, equipment, and machinery. The objective is to create an environment that optimizes employee safety, achieves high-quality standards, and improves process efficiency to reach world-class performance.
Ensure that all high-priority PFMEA items have the best possible detection controls implemented by Mechanical Engineering.
Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related field).
2–4 years of experience in a related field.
Experience with new product launch phases.
Knowledge, Skills, and Certifications
Advanced English proficiency.
Computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, CATIA, Adobe).
Experience reading engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
Ability to participate in cross-functional teams.
Strong knowledge of DFA and PFMEA.
Good knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
Atlas Copco electric tools (programming, purchasing, etc.).
Enablon.
PMO tools (Project Management).
Problem-solving skills.
Risk assessment.
Proficiency in CATIA 3D modeling software. Other 3D modeling software is a plus.
Familiarity with continuous improvement tools and methodologies (e.g., PDCA/DMAIC).
Familiarity with PTC Creo software.
Familiarity with SCADA and MES concepts.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Create a clean and well-organized work environment that prevents accidents and reduces safety risks for the team.
Develop and ensure robust processes that enable personnel to build high-quality vehicles that meet company standards.
Create and maintain torque matrices.
Lead and define the design of tools, machinery, and fixtures as required for each product introduction, ensuring a Statement of Work (SOW) is developed for each project.
Ensure that equipment and tools maximize the Value-Added/Non-Value-Added (VA/NVA) ratio, considering workforce needs and utilizing state-of-the-art technologies when necessary.
Participate in activities related to Health & Safety, Quality Assurance (QA), Logistics (LOG), Maintenance, Training, R&D Juárez, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (ME), and the New Product Development (NPD) team from G0 to G7.
Organize validations and special training activities with the plant in preparation for NPD events such as P1, P3PH, P3OP, and PR.
Track schedules for all plant events, including projected losses associated with each event.
Be responsible for delivering assigned project activities on time, working closely with the NPD/NPI team, where early obstacle identification and reporting before mass production are key responsibilities.
Actively participate in the development and maintenance of PFMEAs to ensure that implemented risk countermeasures are properly documented on vehicle assembly lines.
Influence product design to ensure successful product launches and right-first-time manufacturing.
Support NPD activities before, during, and after NPD events.
Collaborate with R&D and Quality Control to resolve critical issues identified after each event.
Participate in post-event meetings to identify improvement opportunities across departmental processes.
Help create a culture of continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing principles and BRPMS tools.
Promote collaboration among departments by leading, developing, and coaching team members to optimize safety, quality, productivity, and costs in a dynamic environment.
Manage budgets responsibly by always evaluating multiple options to secure quality products at the best price and delivery lead time.
Perform activities aimed at improving employee safety.
Conduct studies to select the best tools with outstanding safety, quality, and productivity performance.
Develop and manage budgets while ensuring timely execution and compliance.
Resolve quality-related issues.
Manage capital equipment acquisitions.
Complete all planned Quality and Training-related training activities on time.
Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and support corrective actions.
Comply with all safety regulations applicable to the position.
Participate in Quality Management System (QMS) activities applicable to the role in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
