Seeking a detail‑oriented Master Data & Accounting Analyst to support the Payroll team in Mexico City. This role owns payroll master data integrity, access controls, and payroll accounting activities (journal entries, reconciliations, month‑end close) while working closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, IT and external providers (PACs). The ideal candidate understands Mexican payroll rules (CFDI nómina, IMSS, INFONAVIT, ISR), has strong ERP experience, and drives controls and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities :
- Maintain payroll master data across HRIS/ERP/payroll systems (employee records, pay elements, accruals, deductions, garnishments, cost centers, tax codes, work schedules), ensuring accuracy and auditability.
- Manage user access and segregation of duties for payroll systems; support onboarding/offboarding and periodic access reviews.
- Implement and document master‑data change controls and approval workflows (new pay elements, policy changes, retroactive adjustments).
- Perform payroll accounting: prepare/validate payroll journal entries, distribute payroll costs to GL, and provide supporting documentation for month‑end close.
- Reconcile payroll to general ledger, bank payroll files, tax/social security deposits (IMSS/INFONAVIT/ISR) and third‑party vendor invoices; investigate and resolve variances.
- Support electronic payroll stamping (CFDI nómina) coordination and ensure master data supports correct timbrado and XML generation.
- Participate in payroll cutover testing, system upgrades, localizations and integrations (HRIS <> payroll <> ERP); create test cases, validate results and document configuration.
- Produce and maintain standard reports and dashboards (headcount, payroll cost mapping, variances, master‑data change logs); use Excel, Power Query, SQL or BI tools as appropriate.
- Support audits and regulatory inquiries by maintaining audit trails, filing documentation and responding to requests from SAT/IMSS/INFONAVIT or internal/external auditors.
- Drive continuous improvement: identify automation opportunities, reducing manual entries, and document procedures and controls.
- Act as a liaison between Payroll, HR, Finance, IT and external vendors to ensure master data changes are implemented timely and correctly.
Respond to internal stakeholder inquiries related to master data and payroll accounting; implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Contabilidad, Finanzas, Administración, Sistemas de Información, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in payroll master data, payroll accounting, or payroll operations with Mexican payroll exposure (CFDI nómina, ISR, IMSS, INFONAVIT/AFORE).
- Hands‑on experience with ERP/HRIS/payroll systems (examples: SAP HCM/Payroll or FI, Workday, Oracle, ADP localizations, Aspel NOI) and integrations.
- Proven experience preparing payroll journal entries, GL reconciliations and month‑end close deliverables.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query); experience with SQL, Power BI/Tableau or reporting tools preferred.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to data integrity and controls.
English intermediate or higher preferred for regional interactions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications (Contador Público, ACCA, SAP certification, payroll or accounting certifications).
- Experience with payroll tax filings, CFDI generation and PAC coordination.
- Prior experience in multi‑entity or multinational environments and multi‑currency accounting.
- Familiarity with RPA/automation tools (UiPath, Power Automate) or scripting to reduce manual tasks.
