Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced IT Engineer to join our team as a Software Developer to support and enhance Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Non-MES applications at both local and divisional levels. The ideal candidate will be responsible for full-stack development, including the creation and optimization of stored procedures, and will provide critical support for 24/7 operations in a high-demand manufacturing environment. This position requires availability for on-call support after hours to address urgent system issues.
The MES applications are built on the .NET framework, utilizing Visual Basic, C#, and SQL Server technologies, and play a vital role in manufacturing processes across multiple Corning plants globally. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and maintenance of software solutions that ensure operational excellence and meet the growing demands of the organization.
The Software Developer will analyze system requirements, design, develop, test, debug, and implement solutions for MES applications, ensuring their reliability and scalability. Solutions will be delivered to support operations in up to 8 Corning plants across 4 countries and may be applied to any stage of the manufacturing process. The role includes troubleshooting and providing extended support to internal customers, with a high sense of urgency and availability critical for the smooth operation of the company.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development:
Design and code scalable software solutions for MES and Non MES applications.
Modify systems to fix errors, improve performance, and implement updates.
Develop and maintain stored procedures, views, jobs, and SSIS packages in SQL Server.
Documentation and Analysis:
Create and maintain system documentation, including technical specifications, user manuals, and system reports.
Analyze business processes and system requirements to translate them into technical solutions.
Experiences/Education - Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering in Computer Systems, or a related field.
3+ years of professional experience with NET framework and programming languages C# and VB NET.
2+ years of experience working with T SQL, including stored procedures, views, jobs, and SSIS.
4+ years of NET development experience.
5+ years of programming experience with C# and VB NET
3+ years of experience with advanced T SQL concepts and tools.
