We are on the hunt for a Lead Java Developer to become part of our team.
You will build and maintain microservices-based applications leveraging Java, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies, producing clean and efficient code, working hand in hand with the team, and adhering to best practices around quality, scalability, and performance. You will join a mature blended team composed of EPAM and the customer's engineers, dedicated to advancing Identity Management solutions for the customer's enterprise platform. This is a collaborative and fast-paced environment where strong communication and client engagement matter as much as technical excellence. You will engage directly with customer stakeholders, so refined client-facing skills will be essential to thriving in this role.
Responsibilities

Plan, develop, and maintain high-performance backend microservices leveraging Java and Spring Boot together with Spring Security

Deliver and sustain OAuth2, authentication, and authorization flows inside the customer's Identity Management platform

Support front-end development activities where needed, helping the team release complete end-to-end features as an additional focus area

Work closely with customer engineers and stakeholders, effectively sharing technical decisions, progress updates, and any obstacles

Take part in code reviews, advocate for best practices, and join architectural discussions while collaborating in a paired programming environment

Integrate with identity-related components including token management, user authentication flows, and session handling

Operate within an Agile and Scrum delivery model, actively participating in sprint ceremonies and backlog refinement sessions

Confirm that solutions consistently satisfy security, scalability, and performance targets across the entire platform
Requirements
-
No less than 5 years of hands-on professional experience in software engineering
-
At least 1 year in a people management or team leadership role, guiding a team of 5 or more FTEs
-
Strong expertise in Java (11/17 or newer) combined with intermediate proficiency in ReactJS for frontend contributions

Solid applied experience in RESTful API design and development

Practical background with OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and related authentication and authorization frameworks

Working knowledge of Identity Management concepts including SSO, token-based authentication, JWT, and PKCE flows

Hands-on experience with SQL and/or NoSQL data storage technologies

Confident use of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern DevOps methodologies

Strong English communication at B2 level or higher, in both written and spoken forms

Working familiarity with Go for backend engineering activities

Applied experience with JavaScript to support frontend-related contributions

Awareness of SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris Commerce) for integrating with e-commerce platforms
