Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Procurement leadership team, the Commodity Analyst – MRO is responsible for supporting the sourcing, procurement, and supplier management activities related to Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO), indirect materials, services, and operational support requirements.
This role partners with internal stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, Facilities, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure the timely acquisition of goods and services while driving cost savings, supplier performance, spend visibility, and sourcing efficiency. The Commodity Analyst leverages data analysis, market intelligence, and supplier collaboration to support business objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
Duties and responsibilities:
Manage sourcing and procurement activities for MRO categories, indirect materials, and operational services.
Analyze category spend, supplier performance, and purchasing trends to identify cost reduction and process improvement opportunities.
Support and execute RFQ/RFP activities, including supplier communication, bid analysis, commercial comparisons, and sourcing recommendations.
Research market conditions, industry trends, and supplier capabilities to support strategic sourcing decisions.
Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers capable of meeting operational requirements related to quality, delivery, service, and cost.
Develop and maintain supplier relationships while supporting performance management and issue resolution activities.
Create and manage purchase orders through Oracle or other ERP systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
Track procurement savings, PPV (Purchase Price Variance), and category performance against established objectives.
Perform spend analysis, supplier benchmarking, and year-over-year purchasing comparisons to support sourcing strategies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand procurement requirements and ensure continuity of supply.
Maintain accurate supplier, spend, contract, and sourcing data within procurement systems and reporting tools.
Prepare dashboards, reports, and presentations using Power BI and Excel to provide visibility to stakeholders and leadership.
Monitor procurement processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency based on stakeholder feedback.
Support supplier risk assessments and mitigation activities to minimize supply disruptions.
Assist with departmental projects, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, Industrial Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
Experience Requirements:
1-3 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Commodity Management, Supplier Development, Purchasing, or related functions.
Experience supporting MRO procurement, indirect purchasing, or supplier management activities preferred.
Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
Technical Knowledge:
Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal).
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, data analysis, dashboards, and advanced formulas.
Experience using Power BI for reporting and spend visibility.
Working knowledge of ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or equivalent.
Understanding of RFQ/RFP processes, supplier management, spend analysis, savings tracking, and procurement fundamentals.
Knowledge of indirect procurement, MRO categories, and supplier performance metrics.
Understanding of basic logistics concepts, supplier lead times, and total cost analysis.
