Position Summary
The Plant Controller serves as the senior finance partner for the San José manufacturing facility, providing financial leadership, operational support, and strategic guidance to drive plant performance. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting business planning processes, and partnering with operations leadership to improve profitability, productivity, and cost performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Lead all plant accounting and financial reporting activities.
Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, operating results, and plant performance metrics.
Monitor inventory, fixed assets, capital expenditures, and manufacturing variances.
Ensure compliance with Gates accounting policies, financial controls, and reporting requirements.
Operational Finance
Partner with plant and corporate leadership to drive financial performance and operational efficiency.
Analyze labor, material, overhead, scrap, and manufacturing variances and recommend corrective actions.
Support productivity initiatives, cost reduction programs, and continuous improvement projects.
Develop financial models and business cases to support operational decision-making.
Evaluate new capital investments and monitor project returns.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead annual operating plan development and monthly forecasting activities.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to ensure achievement of business objectives.
Monitor plant spending against budgets and identify risks and opportunities.
Develop scenario analyses and support strategic planning initiatives.
Inventory & Cost Accounting
Maintain standard cost systems and ensure integrity of product costing.
Analyze inventory reserves, cycle count results, and physical inventory processes.
Support inventory optimization efforts while ensuring financial accuracy.
Review inventory valuation and manufacturing absorption calculations.
Leadership & Business Partnership
Serve as a trusted advisor to plant leadership.
Lead and develop finance team members, providing coaching and mentoring.
Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and HR teams.
Drive a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Requirements and Preferred Skills
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing finance, operations finance, or plant accounting.
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Experience supporting manufacturing operations within a multinational environment.
Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
Fluent in Spanish and English.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in automotive, industrial manufacturing, or engineered products industries.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience with SAP or comparable ERP systems.
Prior experience leading finance personnel in a manufacturing environment.
