Job Summary
The Business Development Representative (BDR) is an entry-level sales role responsible for identifying, qualifying, and generating new sales opportunities for our ERP software and services. This role focuses on outbound prospecting, inbound lead qualification, and setting qualified meetings for Account Executives and ERP Sales Consultants.
The ideal candidate is curious, coachable, and motivated to build a career in ERP sales, consulting, or account management.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Generation & Prospecting
- Research and identify target companies within defined industries (e.g., manufacturing, distribution, services)
- Conduct outbound outreach via phone, email, and LinkedIn
- Qualify inbound marketing leads (web forms, events, campaigns)
- Maintain accurate prospect data in CRM (e.g., Dynamics 365, Salesforce, HubSpot)
Qualification & Discovery
- Conduct initial discovery conversations to understand:
- Company size, industry, and growth plans
- Current ERP or accounting systems
- Business challenges and pain points
- Timeline and decision-making structure
- Apply qualification frameworks (e.g., BANT, MEDDICC-light)
- Determine fit for ERP software and implementation services
Meeting & Pipeline Support
- Schedule qualified discovery meetings and product demos for Account Executives
- Prepare detailed notes and handoffs for sales and consulting teams
- Follow up on dormant or stalled leads
- Support pipeline growth and forecast accuracy
Collaboration & Learning
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and ERP Consultants
- Participate in ERP product training and industry education
- Attend internal sales meetings and coaching sessions
- Learn ERP positioning, competitive landscape, and value messaging
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 0–2 years of experience in sales, business development, customer service, or internships
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable making outbound calls and engaging with business stakeholders
- Basic understanding of business processes (finance, operations, supply chain is a plus)
- Coachable, resilient, and goal-oriented
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to ERP systems (NetSuite, Dynamics 365, SAP, Acumatica, Sage, etc.)
- Experience using CRM tools
- Interest in B2B technology sales or consulting
- Familiarity with manufacturing, distribution, or professional services industries
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Number of outbound activities (calls, emails, LinkedIn touches)
- Qualified meetings set per month
- Lead-to-opportunity conversion rate
- CRM data accuracy and follow-up consistency
- Contribution to overall sales pipeline
