Proposals & Estimating Lead

About the Role
ROI Construction LLC is seeking a Proposals & Estimating Lead to own the quality, accuracy, and delivery of all solar project proposals and roof/electrical estimates. This role combines estimating expertise with team leadership. You'll serve as ROl's in-house subject matter expert on roofing and electrical conditions for solar projects.
Key Responsibilities
Proposal Management & Quality Control
- Oversee all outgoing solar proposals to ensure they meet company standards and investor requirements before release.
- Manage proposals involving non-standard conditions (roof work, electrical upgrades, system redesigns) and ensure proper documentation.
- Review and refine system designs and proposals to maximize energy output per yield within project constraints.
- Manage the proposals team's daily workflow, priorities, and quality standards.
Roof & Electrical Estimation
- Develop accurate cost estimates for roof replacements, repairs, coatings, and main service panel (MSP) upgrades required prior to solar installation.
- Complete accurate cost estimates requested post install by O&M department.
- Analyze site survey photos, reports, and specifications to determine material, labor, and scope requirements.
- Perform detailed assessments across a range of roof types including asphalt shingles, three-tab shingles, architectural shingles, slate, synthetic slate, and low-slope/flat roofing (EPDM, TPO, modified bitumen).
Investor Review & Pushback Support
- Review investor feedback on roof and electrical conditions; provide detailed, documented agreement or disagreement with clear supporting rationale.
- Serve as ROl's go-to expert when the sales team or processing team needs to push back on investor-required work.
- Collaborate with site surveyors, sales teams, and the processing department to ensure accurate scoping from the start.
Sales Support & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the proposals team and sales partners for proposal-related questions, edits, and special requests.
- Interact directly with sales representatives to clarify estimate details, answer questions, and ensure quotes are understood correctly.
- Coordinate with internal teams on proposal delivery, ensuring investor comments are verified before communicating requirements to sales.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a team of Proposal Design Specialists.
- Provide guidance, training, and quality feedback to develop team capabilities over time.
- Maintain quality and accuracy standards across all quotes and proposals to minimize rework.
QuaIifications
Required:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience building quotes and estimates for residential roofing and/or electrical work
- Working knowledge of residential roof types, conditions, and lifespan assessment
- Familiarity with electrical service panels, heavy-ups, and utility interconnection basics
- Experience with roofing measurement and quoting software (e.g., GAF QuickMeasures, iRoofing, Hover, EagleView, or similar)
- Experience with solar proposal design or solar system layout software (e.g., Aurora Solar)
- Proficiency with CRM/project management platforms (Acculynx experience strongly preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret site survey reports, construction photos, and technical documents
- Strong written and verbal communication skills - you'll need to document your reasoning clearly, interact with sales teams, and lead a small team
- Prior experience managing or mentoring direct reports
Preferred:
- Lumber, carpentry, or general contracting background
- Familiarity with residential solar PPA structures and investor requirements
- Experience in the residential solar industry or working with tax equity investors

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $420,000.00 per year
