Job Information (incl. essential functions): Reporting to the SVP Commercial Americas, the Commercial Director will be a key player in CDB Aviation’s global marketing and sales team and a core member of the cross functional Commercial Department. The Commercial Director’s main responsibility is to secure sustainable and profitable business for CDB Aviation through net revenue earned from airlines as assigned from within the Americas region.
Core Responsibilities:
- Origination, pursuit/negotiation, closing and execution/delivery of aircraft placement and other new business for CDB Aviation from conceptualisation through the Term Sheet/Letter of Intent phases to fulfilment of the deal.
- Developing and maintaining close relationships with target airlines in the region, in particular with key decision makers, senior level management and senior fleet planning managers. Serve as access to these senior airline personnel by others on CDB Aviation Deal Teams and senior management.
- Liaising closely with relevant OEM and other industry personnel in the
- Developing strategic commercial ideas and tactical plans for winning business in the Americas region, in line with the broader CDB Aviation corporate goals and objectives.
- Acting as Project Manager/Deal Team Leader for used and new aircraft placements, sale- and-lease-back campaigns, Pre-Delivery Payments (“PDP”) and other debt financing products, aircraft trading and the like including through proactive coordination with other CDB Aviation functions.
- Actively managing CDB Aviation’s internal transaction review process for transactions in the Americas region, including pursuing the timely and accurate completion of transaction approval documentation and submissions for approvals, with a focus on ensuring the timely and otherwise efficient closure on transactions, and not just the origination thereof.
- Supporting decision makers on portfolio optimization
- Staying abreast of industry trends and developments in the commercial aviation and aircraft leasing sectors.
- Working with CDB Aviation’s upstream CDB Leasing and CDB in pursuit of commercial opportunities of potential benefit both to CDB and to airlines.
Role Requirements:
- Degree educated or equivalent in marketing, finance, legal, engineering or other relevant disciplines
- A successful performance history and demonstrable experience in marketing aircraft and/or other aviation goods and/or services, achieved preferably through prior employment with a leading global aircraft lessor or other significant player within the air transportation sector
- A proven track record in sourcing and closing opportunities and transactions on behalf of a leading lessor or other supplier of metal and/or finance services in the Aviation space
- Strong airline relationships preferably in the Americas region
- Strong aircraft leasing evaluation skills with a working knowledge of the financial aspects of aircraft leasing and similar aviation products
- Highly motivated, ambitious and commercially driven with strong business development skills and the ability to operate effectively and influentially at the highest levels within the airline community
- A creative team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver results under the pressure of tight deadlines
- A working knowledge of a Spanish/Portuguese would be advantageous
