Responsibilities:
The Opportunity
The Functional Design Lead is the functional owner and design authority who acts as the bridge between business requirements and technical solutions. This role ensures that functional specifications are accurately translated into system designs and delivered effectively, supporting enterprise transformation initiatives and operational excellence for R&D Corporate Platforms. This role will be leading the functional solution design for R&D's Document Lifecyle Management Solutions. R&D is undergoing a major upgrade and has a roadmap to transform their document retention capabilities.

Requirements Translation & Design

Translate user stories and business requirements into functional and technical specifications.

Define and govern “Definition of Ready” and “Definition of Done” for backlog items.

Decompose epics/features into actionable functional components and estimate effort.

Ensure functional alignment with document lifecycle, retention, and compliance requirements.

Solution Delivery & Validation
-
Configure and enable working software aligned with functional design.
-
Create and execute automated test scripts; drive defect resolution.
-
Participate in demos, UAT, and feature integration testing.
-
Define and review test scenarios; support automation and defect resolution.

Governance & Documentation
-
Maintain storyboards, task boards, and ensure accuracy of remaining work.
-
Document functional design decisions and maintain design standards.
-
Govern functional changes and assess impact across the platform.

Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration
-
Act as the primary functional point of contact for Product Owners, business stakeholders, and vendors.

Work closely with Product Owners, Vendors, Business Analysts, Developers, and Data Analysts.

Align with offshore development teams to clarify design and solution functionality.

Continuous Improvement
-
Identify process improvement opportunities and propose enhancements.

Support change management and user adoption strategies.

Contribute to the long-term functional roadmap of the DM platform.
Qualifications:
Who Are We Looking For?

Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
-
8+ years of experience in IT functional design or solution delivery, preferably in a global enterprise.

Experience supporting global, enterprise-scale platforms.
- Technical Skills
-
Experience with Document or Knowledge Management Solutions. Experience with OpenText Documentum/Enterprise Content Management preferred

Solid understanding of document lifecycle, retention, and content governance.

Strong functional knowledge and solution architecture background.

Proficiency in creating functional specifications and reviewing test scripts

Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (Azure DevOps).
