Company Description
We’re Checkout.com. You might not know our name, but companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony do, because we’re behind many of the digital experiences you use every day.
We are where the world checks out, enabling over 10 billion transactions daily for more than one billion global shoppers.
Whether you want to book a holiday, order food, renew a subscription, or check out online, there’s a good chance our tech powers the payments behind the scenes. Our platform helps the most ambitious businesses deliver effortless digital experiences, at scale.
If you want to do career-defining work, you’ve come to the right place. We move fast, think globally, and believe great teams are built by hiring exceptional people with conviction, curiosity, and the desire to make an impact.
With 20 offices across six continents and London as our HQ, we’re shaping the future of fintech – and we’re just getting started.
As our first People hire in Mexico, you will be the architect of the employee experience for our growing team in Mexico City. You’ll be the bridge between our global standards and local Mexican requirements, ensuring we remain compliant while building a world-class culture. This is a "player-coach" role: you will handle the granular details of local payroll/benefits via our EOR and support TA efforts, while also advising leadership on how to scale from 1 to 50+ employees in 2026.
Entity Launch & EOR Management: Manage the day-to-day relationship with our EOR provider. Lead the eventual transition from EOR to a local Checkout.com entity, ensuring all registrations and local requirements are met.
Compliance & Labor Law: Serve as the subject matter expert on the Federal Labor Law (Ley Federal del Trabajo). Ensure all contracts, internal work regulations (Reglamento Interior de Trabajo), and health and safety requirements (NOM-035) are strictly followed.
Total Rewards & Benefits: Oversee the implementation and administration of local benefits (Prestaciones de Ley and Superiores), including Food/Restaurant coupons, Private Medical Insurance (SGMM), and Savings Funds.
Full Lifecycle Operations: Own the localized onboarding experience for all new hires, manage performance cycles, and lead any necessary offboarding processes with a focus on compliance and empathy.
Talent Acquisition Support: Act as the local partner for our Talent Acquisition team, helping to source local talent, advise on market-competitive salaries, and build our employer brand in the Mexico City tech ecosystem.
Workplace & Culture: Manage our hybrid office/workplace setup in CDMX, fostering a sense of community and ensuring the Checkout.com culture is felt locally.
Stakeholder Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to managers on employee relations, performance management, and organizational design for the Mexico team.
Experience: 5+ years of HR Generalist/People experience, preferably within a fast-paced fintech or high-growth technology company.
International Pedigree: Proven track record of working for a global company where you’ve balanced local needs with global HQ directives.
Legal Expertise: Deep knowledge of Mexican labor law, social security (IMSS), and tax regulations (ISR) as they relate to payroll and benefits.
The "Builder" Mindset: You are comfortable with ambiguity and have the hands-on capability to build processes from scratch rather than just following a manual.
Communication: Exceptional communication skills in both English and Spanish. You can explain complex Mexican labor nuances to global stakeholders clearly.
Proactive Problem Solver: You don't just identify risks; you bring solutions. You are analytical, data-driven, and highly organized.
