Reporting to the Automation Manager, the Shift Manager is a key operational leader responsible for overseeing the performance, reliability, and safety of Symbotic’s highly automated robotic systems during assigned shifts. This role blends strong people leadership with technical oversight, including monitoring system health, troubleshooting automation issues, and ensuring the efficient operation of robotic vehicles, vertical lifts, automated adapters, and warehouse execution systems.
The Shift Manager serves as the primary on-shift liaison between the customer, Symbotic operations, engineering, and maintenance teams, ensuring escalations are handled appropriately, recurring issues are addressed, and automation performance meets contractual KPIs. The ideal candidate is a decisive, safety-driven leader who can translate system data into actionable insights, coach teams through complex problems, and maintain high levels of reliability in a fast-paced, automated environment.
Experience working with and troubleshooting servo motors, conveyance systems, pneumatics, and VFD’s.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize automation systems—including robotic vehicles, vertical lifts, automated adapters, and warehouse execution systems—to maximize uptime, throughput, and reliability.
Ability to interpret automation dashboards, system alerts, and performance data to identify issues, adjust workflow, and maintain system flow.
Lead, train, coach, and develop shift team members, fostering engagement, accountability, and adherence to safety protocols.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, Symbotic , and customer safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including LOTO and fall protection.
Staff each shift appropriately, assign roles, conduct training, and drive continuous skill development for team members.
Communicate system status, operational updates, and technical concepts clearly to shift teams, maintenance, engineering, and customers.
Associate or Bachelor's degree in engineering , Operations, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Robotics, Industrial Automation, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 3 years working with automation, robotics, or electro-mechanical systems in manufacturing, l ogistics , or warehouse environments.
Skilled in troubleshooting and maintaining robotic and automated systems; experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley/Siemens), SQL, Linux, or Python preferred.
High sense of urgency, adaptability, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, automated environment.
May require PPE in construction or installation areas (hard hat, vest, steel-toe shoes, eye and hearing protection, harness).
Ability to stand and walk for 10–12 hours , performing bending, twisting, climbing, crawling, and repetitive movements.

Garantizar el cumplimiento de las normas de seguridad , calidad y regulaciones de OSHA, Symbotic y del cliente , incluyendo LOTO y protección contra caídas .
Comunicar claramente el estado del sistema , actualizaciones operativas y conceptos técnicos a los equipos del turno , mantenimiento , ingeniería y clientes .
Título asociado o licenciatura en Ingeniería, Operaciones , Cadena de Suministro , Ciencias de la Computación , Robótica , Automatización Industrial o un campo relacionado (o experiencia equivalente ).
Puede requerir EPP en áreas de construcción o instalación (casco, chaleco , zapatos de punta de acero , protección ocular y auditiva , arnés ).
Capacidad para estar de pie y caminar 10–12 horas , realizando doblado , torsión , escalada , arrastre y movimientos repetitivos .
