Job Purpose and Reporting Structure:
The Agronomy Manager Mexico, under the direction of Quality Director, oversees the barley variety selection, development, production, and storage in Meoqui to serve Heineken and other local customers a suitable malt performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Define key stakeholders in Heineken barley team and build strong relation with them regarding variety development and industrial validation.
- Define and implement agronomical best practice for each crop season regarding sowing density, irrigation regime, moisture at harvest, harvest type, combine set up, etc.
- Define and implement barley quality control from field to malting plant at Meoqui.
- Define and implement long term storage strategy considering the potential plant extension.
- Execute assessment and propose recommendation of all our barley storage facility (internal and external) in line with Vivescia storage best practice (considering that barley can only be stored in approved location)
- Follow up the execution of recommendation of the storage assessment.
- Establish processes and manage them of new variety selection and development (data needed, stage gate, define internal and external resource, etc).
- Organize and lead crop tour with our customers and partners to promote malting barley and proper variety.
- Explore alternative sourcing area in Mexico due to limit exposure in Meoqui region.
- Supervise Pelek activity in Mexico.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, crop science, genetics or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Agrifood industry and a significative experience in Barley or cereals.
- Proven experience in grain handling.
- Hands on agronomy at farm level.
- Experience in field trial design and data analysis.
- Well understanding of Mexican climate for harvests and crops and soil conditions
- Proficiency in Spanish / English (written and spoken).
- Microsoft office
- Tableau, SAP, Power BI or other statistical tolls are a plus
- Grain handling knowledge
- Capable to work in a matrix organization and global company
- Able to speak the farmers’ language as well as corporate language (assertive communication at all levels)
- Ability to accept, respect and work with individuals from Mexican, American, and French backgrounds.
