This role is office-based in Mexico. The role requires professional fluency in English (spoken and written).
We are seeking an experienced IBM AIX Systems Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and optimize AIX-based infrastructure in a mission-critical enterprise environment. This role requires deep expertise in IBM Power Systems, AIX OS administration, and associated technologies such as PowerVM, HACMP/PowerHA, and storage integration. The ideal candidate will ensure system reliability, performance, and security while supporting business-critical applications.
Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Technical (40%)
Perform system installations, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
Manage logical partitions (LPARs) using PowerVM/VIOS.
Implement and support high availability solutions (PowerHA / HACMP).
Manage storage integration (SAN, NPIV, MPIO) and backup solutions.
Administrative (40%)
Proficiency in AIX system internals, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with backup/recovery tools (e.g., BRMS, TSM/Spectrum Protect).
Administer, configure, and maintain IBM AIX operating systems on IBM Power Systems.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure system security compliance, including patch management and auditing.
Automate routine administrative tasks using shell scripting (ksh/bash).
Collaborate with application, database, and network teams to support enterprise platforms.
Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and incident resolution.
Manage ServiceNow ticket queue.
Participate in on-call rotation for production support as needed.
Project Management (20%)
Required Qualifications:
Strong experience with IBM Power Systems hardware and virtualization (PowerVM, VIOS).
Experience with PowerHA.
Experience with enterprise storage technologies (SAN, IBM Storwize, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM AIX system administration.
IBM certifications (e.g., IBM Certified System Administrator – AIX).
Experience with NIM (Network Installation Manager).
Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.
Exposure to cloud integration or hybrid infrastructure.
Experience with monitoring tools (Galileo, iDoctor, PerfNav, etc.).
Familiarity with DevOps practices and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux shell scripting.
