Proposal Specialist
You will report to: Proposal Consultant Manager

The Proposal Specialist is a visible position working with important Rockwell Automation team members and customers to develop commercial offers within the framework of our strategic and financial goals, ensuring compliance with internal policies. You will need a general knowledge of all our solution capabilities, partners, and competitors in their designated solution space. Use this knowledge and engage with other important team consultants to fulfill scope requirements. Solve any complex concerns or issues that may arise by navigating internal organization and processes, and Rockwell Automation resources. For a successful outcome, you'll take a lead or supporting role to ensure all content and estimates are in order for a comprehensive proposal that meets the scope.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic/Technical Expertise involves employing commercial and technical skills while tapping your creative side. This maximizes Rockwell profit and growth opportunities.
- Additionally, it requires filtering opportunities to pursue, and providing feedback to increase successes through our Win Strategy process.
- Furthermore, negotiation is crucial, both internally and externally, applying a sound understanding of cost, value, and profit margin to establish pricing with approvals.
- Within your delegation of authority, you approve costs, pricing, margins, and other commercial terms. Finally, you must convincingly explain our value message and business models in many scenarios and situations, including through direct sales channels or through distributors.
- Support proposals with customers, instilling confidence in the proposed solution. Follow all applicable corporate, company, governmental, and regulatory procedures for this position. Engage with sales and customers to follow up on proposals.
- Manage project reviews including risk analysis
Collaboration and Management Skills:
- Work in a cross-functional environment, both commercially and technically. Engage with other key stakeholders as required, including Proposal Specialists, Application Consultants, Sales/Distributors, Channel Partners, RA Business Units, Contracts and Negotiations.
- This may involve working with several teams and individuals, such as the C&N legal and contracts team, third-party, and customers.
- Obtain approvals in compliance with Rockwell policies, including executive level (PARB) approvals. Additionally, coordinate legal terms and conditions to support proposal delivery terms.
- Maintain proposal and other tools to support automation of important activities, such as forecasting, and facilitate opportunity management.
- This includes ensuring data quality and availability at any time.
- Seek out and participate in continuous improvement through feedback and training opportunities to address identified gaps and further strengthen required skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or similar.
- The country where the position is assigned must authorize you to work legally. You will do not offer sponsorship.
- Ability to travel up to 10% to customer sites in the United States or Canada for proposal-related responsibilities
- Proficient in English
Requisitions
- 5+ years of related experience in an industrial environment, specifically in engineering, projects, maintenance, and support. Knowledge of industrial products and applications, including Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation products such as PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and Rockwell Automation Software.
- Experience working with third-party suppliers to provide additional products and services is also desirable.
- Our team requires the ability to work in a matrixed environment. We will ask you to have demonstrated, with the ability to develop proposals, convey project status updates, design information, technical issues and resolutions, and complete project milestone reviews. Knowledge of OT Network Design, OT Virtualization, and OT Cybersecurity.
- Finally, you have demonstrated customer relationship skills, both internal and external.
