Our Product Engineering team is at the forefront of automotive innovation, translating complex designs into reality. We design, develop, and validate the next generation of world-class vehicles, ensuring every component meets our rigorous standards of safety, quality, and performance.
As a Seating Systems Design and Release Engineer, you will be the driving force behind the comfort, safety, and craftsmanship of our vehicle interiors. You will lead the end-to-end development of complete seating systems—from initial concept and supplier sourcing through validation and final assembly. By bridging the gap between design, engineering, and manufacturing, your work ensures that our customers experience world-class quality and comfort every time they step into their Ford vehicle.
What you'll do...

Lead the end-to-end design, release, and integration of complete seating systems and components to meet cost, weight, quality, and craftsmanship targets.

Manage engineering deliverables throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring all milestones are met on time from initial target setting through validation and production.

Coordinate with external suppliers to deliver sourcing packages, monitor financial status-to-target, and drive cost-optimization processes.

Resolve complex technical and prototype build issues using structured problem-solving methodologies (such as 8D or Root Cause Analysis).

Provide on-site engineering support at manufacturing and vehicle assembly plants during prototype, pre-production, and launch phases through to final production approval.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and leadership to communicate project status, align on technical solutions, and manage program timing.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.

Typically 4 or more years of product engineering experience within the automotive industry, with a focus on component design and release.

Solid understanding of the automotive product development lifecycle and vehicle launch processes.

Proven ability to identify system-level issues and drive data-based decisions using tools like 8D or Root Cause Analysis.

Strong project management capability to create, execute, and track timing plans and issue-resolution logs.

Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with a proven track record of collaborating across diverse teams and communicating technical concepts clearly.

Willingness and ability to travel to manufacturing and assembly plants to support hands-on build and launch phases.

Direct experience launching at least one vehicle program from concept to production.

Familiarity with automotive CAD viewing tools (e.g., CATIA, Teamcenter) and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
