About the Position
ING Mexico is seeking an experienced senior banker to join its Wholesale Banking team as Director, Sector Coverage. The role will focus primarily on client origination, relationship management, and business development across multiple sectors in Mexico.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and developing relationships with corporate clients, financial sponsors, and other key market participants, while originating new business opportunities and coordinating cross-border and cross-product solutions across ING’s global platform.
In addition to client coverage responsibilities, the role will also involve active participation in transaction execution processes, including coordination with product teams, legal counsel, advisors, and clients throughout the structuring, negotiation, and execution phases of transactions.
This position requires a senior professional with strong commercial acumen, well-established network in the Mexican corporate and financial markets, and the ability to engage with senior decision-makers including CEOs, CFOs, corporate finance and treasury departments and financial sponsors.
The Director will work closely with product partners, sector specialists, and regional teams across the Americas, Europe, and Asia to deliver strategic banking solutions tailored to client needs.

ING Mexico’s Wholesale Banking platform provides corporate and institutional clients with access to a broad suite of banking products and advisory capabilities.
The Mexico team works closely with ING’s international sector and product teams to support clients across a wide range of industries, including Real Estate, Commodity Food & Agri, Power & Renewables, Hydrocarbons & New Energies, Financial Sponsors, Financial Institutions, Metals & Mining, Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT), Healthcare, Infrastructure, Transports & Logistics and Corporate Sector Coverage.
The team is responsible for delivering integrated banking solutions including lending, structured finance, financial markets solutions, transaction services, debt capital markets (DCM), and advisory services.
Responsibilities
- Originate and develop new client relationships across key sectors in Mexico.
- Identify business opportunities and expand ING’s client franchise in the local market.
- Act as primary relationship manager for selected corporate clients, financial sponsors, and financial institutions.
- Coordinate cross-sell initiatives across ING product platforms including lending, financial markets, transaction services, DCM, and advisory.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior executives and key stakeholders.
- Lead strategic dialogue with clients regarding financing solutions, market opportunities, and sector developments.
- Coordinate internally with regional and global sector teams to deliver integrated solutions to clients.
- Support transaction origination and execution efforts alongside product and execution teams.
- Contribute to the review and negotiation of transaction documentation, including credit agreements, term sheets, legal documentation, and ancillary banking agreements.
- Support internal approval processes, deal coordination, and execution timelines to ensure efficient delivery of client solutions.
- Monitor sector trends, macroeconomic developments, and competitive dynamics relevant to the Mexican market.
- Contribute to ING’s strategic initiatives within Mexico, the Americas and global platform.
- Mentor and support junior team members while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Minimum of 15+ years of experience in corporate banking, investment banking, or wholesale banking coverage roles in the Mexican market.
- Strong client origination and relationship management experience within the Mexican corporate market.
- Established network across relevant sectors including corporates, financial sponsors, financial institutions, and relevant market participants.
- Proven ability to originate and coordinate complex banking solutions across multiple products.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, credit, capital markets, and banking products.
- Experience participating in transaction execution processes, including legal documentation review and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commercial mindset and entrepreneurial approach.
- Ability to work effectively across international and cross-functional teams.
- High level of self-motivation, leadership, and accountability.
- Fluency in English and Spanish required.
