POSITION SUMMARY
The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer plays a key role in driving the development of next ‑ generation products. This position operates in a fast ‑ paced, cross ‑ functional environment, collaborating closely with Electrical Controls, Thermal Engineering, and other development teams. The engineer will lead and execute complex design activities related to high ‑ density and liquid ‑ cooling solutions for data center applications. Responsibilities include owning and coordinating full NPDI (New Product Development & Introduction) projects, solving advanced engineering challenges, and providing technical leadership to the Mechanical Design team to ensure high ‑ quality, on ‑ time delivery of innovative products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and update mechanical parts, assemblies, and engineering drawings using CAD platforms such as Creo, ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with standards.
- Effectively manages and structures large assemblies, maintaining logical product architecture and enabling efficient design iterations and configuration control.
- Generates innovative design concepts that meet performance, reliability, and cost requirements for high ‑ density and liquid ‑ cooling products.
- Leads and coordinates engineering projects, driving schedules, deliverables, cross ‑ functional alignment, and technical decisions throughout the NPDI process.
- Creates and maintains Bills of Materials (BOMs), including configuration logic to ensure correct selection of components and options based on customer requirements.
- Collaborates closely with Manufacturing, Service, Quality and Supply Chain teams to understand downstream needs and incorporate them into robust product designs.
- Supports prototype builds, providing hands ‑ on technical guidance, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring design intent is properly realized.
- Proactively identifies and recommends design enhancements, leveraging deep product understanding to improve performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Troubleshoots complex or recurring field issues, providing engineering expertise and driving sustainable corrective actions.
- Leads DFMEA, DFM, FRS and other related activities as part of the NPDI methodology, ensuring risks are identified early and mitigated through robust engineering practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or product design with extensive experience.
- 8+ years of mechanical design & analysis experience in a similar role
- Fluency in English required (read, write, and speak).
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, products, and safety.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferred CREO 10.0 and greater
- Experience with Sheetmetal, piping, machined parts and assemblies.
- Knowledge of ASME or ISO standards, proficient with GD&T.
- Change order management and Data-entry systems familiarity - Oracle, Agile, etc.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and methodically.
- Detail oriented.
- Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to operate in cross functional global development teams.
- Knowledge in Refrigeration systems is a plus.
- PM Skills is a plus.
