The Production Technician is responsible for optimizing manufacturing operations by monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on production performance and materials. This role focuses on ensuring high yield, quality, and productivity in the cell production process by maintaining and improving manufacturing methods, equipment, and procedures. The technician collaborates with engineers, customers, and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, ensuring smooth and compliant production operations.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions, electrical or mechanical failures, and process abnormalities that impact yield or quality.
- Use technical tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, thermal cameras, data loggers, PLC interfaces) to identify root causes.
- Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams to implement corrective actions and reduce recurring issues.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance on production machines and auxiliary systems (e.g., dryers, glove boxes, vacuum pumps, and others).
- Assist with calibration of sensors, dosing systems, and metrology equipment used in the battery manufacturing line.
- Participate in yield improvement projects, line balancing, and process optimization efforts.
- Collect and analyze process data to reduce defects such as short circuits, delamination, wrinkles, and contamination.
- Support the evaluation and introduction of new equipment, materials, or automation technologies in collaboration with process engineering.
- Respond to safety incidents or environmental alarms and assist with root cause investigation and mitigation.
- Maintain accurate records of process parameters, batch history, downtime events, and material usage.
- Report production results, quality issues, and anomalies through manufacturing execution systems (MES) and quality tracking tools.
- Assist in updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions based on operational changes.
- Perform in-process inspections and quality checks to detect electrode misalignment, tab defects, burrs, electrolyte leaks, or contamination.
- Monitor critical process parameters (e.g., coating thickness, electrode density, vacuum level, temperature, voltage, current) and adjust settings as needed.
- Set up machines and tools according to work instructions, process parameters, and product specifications.
- Operate and monitor production equipment used in battery manufacturing processes, including mixing, coating, calendaring, slitting, vacuum drying, stacking, welding, electrolyte filling, formation, and degassing.
- Monitor and continuously improve the speed of the unit manufacturing processes in production
- Monitor the progress of production by evaluating the departments KRI reports
- Report production activities/results/indications on a daily basis
- Analyze, report production issues on a daily basis (e.g. safety accidents, quality issues, abnormal drop in yield and operation ratio)
- Monitor operating conditions in every stage of production
- Monitor and check whether semi-products comply with quality requirements including process and appearance specifications
- Monitor and audit the cell manufacturing process to ensure compliance of process regulations regarding treatments of malfunctions
- Take follow-up measures to deal with the production issues/improvements
- Establish and manage production standards (e.g. work instructions, BOM, production/quality check sheets, machine/tool/accessory maintenance standards)
- Take follow-up measures to deal with the quality issues
- Respond to customer audits and take appropriate measures to meet customer's product specifications and standards
- Respond to ISO/IATF certification process and customer gate evaluation
- Monitor quality fluctuation (especially after changing tools) and prevent/alarm quality issues
- Manage the production assets (equipment) and budgets for the investments and operations regarding the cell production process
- Monitor and continuously improve the loss of the processes in production
- Manage and improve production environment in light of the 3R (Right materials, Right Quantity, Right position) and 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain)
- Support countermeasure plan and take follow-up measures regard preventing safety accidents in the production line
