I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring compliance with quality, performance, and reliability requirements of suppliers providing materials, special processes, and finished products for high-speed cable (HSIO) solutions. The SQE acts as a technical leader in supplier quality matters, managing nonconformities, audits, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement projects, as well as supporting new product developments and product transfers.
II. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensure suppliers comply with ISO 9001 quality system requirements, technical specifications, and internal standards.
2. Develop, review, and update procedures, work instructions, and forms related to supplier quality.
3. Ensure control and proper implementation of quality documentation applicable to suppliers.
4. Participate in and support internal and external audits related to suppliers.
5. Define, implement, and improve inspection methods for supplied materials and products.
6. Analyze root causes of defects reported on supplier materials and define final disposition (acceptance, rework, rejection).
7. Make decisions on nonconforming product under formal disposition processes.
8. Implement and follow up on corrective and preventive actions (SCAR), verifying their effectiveness.
9. Manage and follow up on rejections, claims, and supplier-related quality documentation.
10. Monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators (PPM, rejects, FPY, response time, compliance).
11. Lead continuous improvement plans with critical and strategic suppliers.
12. Participate in the selection, evaluation, and qualification of new suppliers.
13. Support product transfer activities, engineering changes, and new product launches.
14. Coordinate quality activities with suppliers, purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing.
15. Prepare and present periodic supplier quality performance reports.
III. JOB PROFILE
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field).
2. 5 to 8 years of experience in Supplier Quality or Quality roles within the electronics industry.
3. Proven experience with electronic components and assemblies, preferably HSIO cables, connectors, harnesses, or interconnection products.
4. Experience leading quality activities with strategic suppliers at both domestic and international levels.
5. Technical Knowledge:
Quality Management Systems under ISO 9001.
Supplier quality audits (process and system).
Problem-solving methodologies: 8D, Root Cause Analysis, CAPA.
Material inspection processes, acceptance criteria, and nonconforming product disposition.
Quality tools: document control, controlled forms, performance indicators (PPM, scrap, rejects).
Interpretation of drawings, technical specifications, and customer requirements.
Electronic manufacturing processes (assembly, crimping, soldering, overmolding – desirable).
6. Skills:
Technical leadership and autonomous decision-making.
Effective communication with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple suppliers and projects simultaneously.
Strong focus on continuous improvement and defect prevention.
Organization, follow-up skills, and sense of urgency.
7. Advanced English proficiency (90%).
