Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role based in the Mexico City / Querétaro area. This position combines technical design expertise with active customer-facing sales responsibilities in an approximately 50/50 split. The Manager will serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients in the region — conducting on-site visits, understanding customer engineering needs, and translating them into design solutions and component recommendations. The role also involves leading internal engineering initiatives and collaborating closely with the sales team to close technically complex opportunities.
Responsibilities
Sales & Field Engineering (50%)
- Conduct on-site visits to clients and prospects in the assigned region to provide technical consultation and support
- Identify customer needs and propose tailored electronic component and design solutions
- Collaborate with the internal sales team to develop and close technical sales opportunities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with engineering and procurement contacts at key accounts
- Prepare and present technical proposals, quotations, and product recommendations
- Represent Zephyr Technologies at client meetings, industry events, and technical reviews
Design & Technical Engineering (50%)
- Design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs) and review electronic schematics
- Develop and test firmware for embedded systems
- Perform component selection, testing, and validation
- Prepare technical documentation including datasheets, BOMs, and engineering specs
- Assemble and evaluate prototype boards
- Provide technical support to internal teams and customers throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage multiple cross-disciplinary engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery within budget
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering or related field
- 10+ years of experience in electronics design and/or technical sales engineering
- Proven track record in a customer-facing or field engineering role
- Solid knowledge of analog, digital, and embedded systems design
- Hands-on experience or working knowledge in IoT systems, PCB design using Altium Designer, and MCU programming (8051, ARM Cortex-M)
- Strong commercial acumen — comfortable managing sales cycles and technical negotiations
- Advanced English proficiency (minimum B2 level); Spanish required
- Availability to travel within Mexico and internationally, including the United States and China (valid visas are a plus but not required)
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Self-driven, organized, and comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision
