POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Supplier Development, is responsible for leading a high-performing team that evaluates and develops key suppliers to ensure they meet Vertiv’s standards for on-time delivery, cost, and continuous improvement. This team acts as a technical liaison between Vertiv Procurement and its suppliers, facilitating supplier performance improvement and enabling mutual business growth for Vertiv and the suppliers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Supplier Development Engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
- Implement Supplier Development management processes, including evaluation, corrective actions, and performance monitoring, considering supplies’ capability, capacity, flexibility, quality, and operating system.
- Develop and execute supplier development strategies to ensure optimal on-time delivery and delivery flexibility performance.
- Build strong relationships with key suppliers, conducting regular assessments and audits to drive continuous improvement and compliance with company standards.
- Collaborate internally within Procurement with category management, supplier performance, strategic sourcing, project management, and cross-functionally with supplier quality, engineering, and manufacturing teams to align supplier capabilities with business needs.
- Develop and implement supplier world-class process checklists (e.g., continuous improvement operating system, customer-facing KPIs…) and drive suppliers towards a continuous improvement environment.
- Develop and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier performance, delivery flexibility, and risk management.
- Oversee key supplier risk assessments and mitigation activities to ensure supply chain continuity.
- Implement supplier world-class process checklists (e.g., continuous improvement operating system, customer-facing KPIs…) and drive suppliers towards a continuous improvement environment.
- Drive to strengthen the supply relationship between suppliers and Vertiv plants
- Support sourcing and procurement teams in supplier selection and onboarding processes.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and present findings and improvement action plans to leadership.
- Lead supplier development projects and initiatives to support business objectives.
- Provide technical guidance and training to suppliers on company standards, Lean operating system and overall best practices.
Represent the supplier development function in executive meetings and provide strategic recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field. MBA preferred
- 10-12+ years’ experience in supplier development, industrial / manufacturing engineering or supplier quality
- 5+ years of experience leading a successful team
- Proven experience driving suppliers' improvement strategies is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, capacity planning, and quality systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, etc.).
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification is highly preferred
- Experience with supplier audits, process validation, and root cause analysis.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
- Ability to travel flexibly and work onsite at supplier sites is necessary.
- Must be proficient in MS Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Power BI, Microsoft Project, SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to perform under pressure in a very fast-paced, complex, and dynamic environment
- Experience documenting/designing business processes, performing business analysis, and requirements definition
- English proficiency required
