Position Overview
We are currently hiring a Senior Software & AI Developer for a full-time remote or hybrid position.
This is a senior-level hands-on role for an experienced software engineer who can design, build, test, document, and maintain production applications using Python, Django, SQL, and modern AI development tools.
You will take ownership of complex features end-to-end, collaborate with technical teams, and help build scalable, high-quality systems that support business growth.
This is an individual contributor role, ideal for someone who enjoys building products, solving technical challenges, improving systems, and using AI tools to accelerate delivery without sacrificing quality.
Important: This is a remote position for candidates living in the CDMX area only.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development
- Design, build, and maintain production applications using Python and Django
- Develop backend services, integrations, background jobs, and internal tools
- Deliver clean, scalable, and maintainable code
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement reliable fixes
Django & Backend Engineering
- Build and extend Django applications including models, views, admin, middleware, and APIs
- Optimize ORM performance, migrations, and database interactions
- Apply security best practices for authentication, authorization, and data protection
Database & SQL Development
- Write performant SQL queries and optimize database performance
- Design schemas, indexes, and migrations with long-term scalability in mind
- Work with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
API Development
- Design and maintain REST APIs with clear contracts and proper versioning
- Implement authentication, rate limiting, validation, and observability
- Produce useful API documentation for internal and external developers
Testing & Code Quality
- Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for delivered features
- Maintain reliable automated test coverage
- Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering standards
AI-Assisted Development
- Use tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent to improve speed and quality
- Apply AI tools for coding, testing, debugging, refactoring, and documentation
- Review all AI-generated code and maintain full ownership of production output
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong hands-on Python experience
- Production experience with Django and REST APIs
- Solid SQL skills with PostgreSQL preferred
- Experience building scalable backend systems
- Strong testing discipline and experience with automated testing
- Experience reviewing code and collaborating in engineering teams
- Practical experience using AI coding assistants in professional workflows
- Strong written communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment aligned to U.S. business hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, AWS, or GCP
- Experience with React, Vue, HTMX, or similar frontend frameworks
- Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis Streams, or event-driven systems
- Experience with SaaS or multi-tenant platforms
- Experience integrating LLMs or AI workflows into products
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
- English required; Spanish is a plus
