The Coil Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, production, and continuous improvement of heat transfer coils including hot water, chilled water, steam, and DX (direct expansion) coils. This role focuses on optimizing manufacturing processes, improving product quality, reducing cost, and ensuring products meet performance and safety standards.
-
Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for HVAC coil production (fin press, tube expansion, brazing, assembly, and testing).Provide technical expertise in the design and performance of hydronic, steam, and direct expansion (DX) coils, including chilled water, hot water, glycol, steam distributing, and refrigerant evaporator/condenser coils.
-
Provide engineering support for hot water, chilled water, steam, and DX coil designs to ensure manufacturability and performance.
-
Collaborate with design engineering to review product designs, BOMs, and routing for accuracy and efficiency.
-
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma).
-
Troubleshoot production issues related to coil leaks, fin integrity, tube expansion, and brazing quality.
-
Develop and maintain standard work instructions, process documentation, and training materials.
