We are looking for a knowledgeable Lead Cloud Engineer with strong AWS expertise to join our team.
As an AWS Cloud Cost Optimization Engineer, you will enhance transparency around cloud expenditures by building a metrics-driven strategy for alerting, reporting, and refining cloud costs. The ideal candidate brings practical experience in DevOps or SRE, substantial background in analyzing and optimizing costs within large-scale AWS environments, a strong interest in data analysis, and the ability to work well with colleagues throughout the organization.
Responsibilities

Work alongside development and engineering groups to uncover optimization opportunities that boost ROI on cloud resources and enhance cost efficiency

Develop a deep understanding of the client's product, its cloud architecture and deployment approach, and the costs tied to each part of the environment

Guide architects and engineers on resource optimization, minimizing waste, managing capacity, and shaping KPIs
-
Track cloud expenditures to catch cost spikes and unusual usage patterns, digging into what's driving them

Monitor how cloud reservations and savings plans are being used, coordinating with teams to redirect available capacity

Examine data trends and irregularities to produce insights that guide both strategic and day-to-day decisions

Spot potential savings tied to cloud commitment options (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot Instances, Committed/Sustained Use) and keep tabs on their usage

Identify inefficient areas and craft practical optimization strategies

Construct, refresh, and sustain dashboards, reports, and automated tools for tracking cost, usage, alerts, and forecasts

Set up dashboards and automated reporting mechanisms to monitor adherence to cost targets

Help establish, refine, automate, and oversee governance for cost optimization policies and best practices

Communicate KPIs and propose savings opportunities to appropriate stakeholders

Coordinate with engineering teams to confirm that cost-saving measures are delivering results
Requirements
-
At least 5 years of professional experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, encompassing cost reporting and large-scale cost optimization
-
A minimum of one year in a leadership or team management capacity

Background working with AWS EKS and containerization tools

Skilled use of cost management and cloud platforms including AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Cost and Usage Report, AWS Budgets, CloudHealth, AWS Managed Services, Amazon EC2, and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service

Familiarity with GitHub, Jenkins, and Terraform for handling version control, automation, and infrastructure provisioning

Demonstrated experience building cost optimization dashboards, models, and reports designed for engineering teams using cloud services

Keen attention to detail paired with a genuine interest in converting raw data into meaningful insights

Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, both independently and as part of a team

Strong communication abilities, both spoken and written, suited for technical and non-technical audiences alike

Genuine curiosity about and openness to adopting new and emerging technologies

Solid written and verbal English skills at a B2 level or higher
Nice to have

Familiarity with AWS Lambda for creating serverless applications and automating processes related to cost management

Experience using Amazon CloudWatch to monitor cloud resources and track key performance indicators

Understanding of Amazon S3 for overseeing and evaluating storage costs and usage trends

Background with Datadog for monitoring, generating alerts, and visualizing cloud infrastructure data

Practical skills in Python for writing scripts, automating processes, and creating custom tools to aid in cost analysis and reporting
