An Account Tax Specialist at MIDEA will be responsible for ensuring tax compliance, preparing and filing tax returns, and providing tax-related information to optimize financial performance. This position requires in-depth knowledge of tax regulations, accounting principles, and reporting standards. The ideal candidate has experience in tax accounting, auditing, and financial reporting.
We are currently looking for an Account Tax Specialist to join our team.
What will you do?
- Tax Compliance and Reporting: Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns in compliance with regulations, ensure timely and accurate tax filing and payment processes, and maintain detailed tax records and documentation for audits and internal reviews.
- Tax Planning and Strategy: Collaborate on tax planning initiatives to optimize tax obligations and compliance, as well as research and interpret tax laws to provide guidance on regulatory changes.
- Audit and Risk Management: Support internal and external tax audits by providing accurate financial records, addressing tax inquiries from regulatory authorities and stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with international, federal, and local tax regulations. Resolve accounting and tax requirements related to annual tax reports.
- Responsible for reports required by INEGI and the Ministry of Economy.
- Financial Analysis and Support: Collaborate with the finance team to assess tax impacts on financial performance, assist in monthly and year-end closing activities related to tax accounting, general accounting, expense reviews, monthly reports, and financial statements. Provide insight into tax implications for business decisions and transactions. Participate in monthly closing activities as required, including extended hours and occasional weekend support when necessary.
- AP Functions: Review company expenses, approvals, travel expenses, and employee reimbursements.
- Process and Documentation Improvement: Develop and maintain tax procedures and best practices to improve efficiency. Identify areas for improvement in tax processes and implement solutions. Ensure accurate records and compliance with company policies.
- Tax Forecasting and Budgeting: Assist in forecasting tax liabilities and preparing fiscal budgets. Ensure tax considerations are incorporated into financial planning and collaborate with finance and accounting teams to align tax strategies with business objectives.
- International Tax Compliance: Oversee global tax regulations and ensure compliance for cross-border transactions. Coordinate with external consultants for international tax planning.
- Liaison with Regulatory Authorities and Bodies: Maintain strong relationships with tax authorities, ensure timely responses to inquiries, prepare documentation and reports for regulatory filings, and stay informed about tax law changes and their impact on the business.
- Perform procedures related to the accounting function that help ensure the effective and efficient operation of the department.
- Ensure that general ledger accounts are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepare accounting entries on general ledger accounts and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring proper and timely resolution of reconciling items.
- Prepare any required account buildup and supporting schedules.
- Research accounting issues and provide recommendations as needed.
What are we looking for?
- 3+ years of experience in tax accounting, regulatory compliance, or finance.
- Excellent knowledge of administrative tasks and support to the finance department. Experience in retail companies is a plus.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
- Advanced English proficiency.
- Master's degree is a plus.
