The Inside Sales Account Manager is responsible for growing and retaining a portfolio of existing customer accounts through proactive outreach, relationship management, and consultative selling primarily via phone, email, and video calls rather than in-person visits.
This role combines individual account ownership with team leadership, overseeing a small inside sales team while focusing on upselling, cross-selling, renewals, and ensuring long-term customer satisfaction and revenue growth.
- Manage a defined portfolio of existing customer accounts, serving as the primary point of contact for sales-related needs.
- Proactively identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the existing customer base.
- Own the renewal process, ensuring high retention rates and minimizing churn.
- Conduct regular check-in calls and account reviews to understand customer needs and satisfaction.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders at customer organizations.
- Prepare and deliver proposals, quotes, and contract renewals in a timely manner.
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Maintain accurate customer records, pipeline data, and forecasts in the CRM.
- Collaborate with Customer Success, Marketing, and Product teams.
- Stay current on product offerings, pricing, and competitive landscape.
- Handle inbound inquiries from existing accounts and route/resolve appropriately.
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of inside sales representatives.
- Set team and individual sales targets and monitor performance.
- Conduct 1:1 meetings, team meetings, and pipeline reviews.
- Onboard and train new team members.
- Identify skill gaps and coordinate development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Partner with sales leadership on forecasting and reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of inside sales, account management, or related customer-facing sales experience.
- 2+ years of experience managing or leading a sales team.
- Proven track record of achieving sales and retention targets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable with high-volume phone and email outreach.
- Proficiency with CRM systems such as Salesforce or HubSpot.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
- Experience in SaaS, financial services, manufacturing, or related industries.
- Familiarity with consultative or value-based selling methodologies.
- Experience with Outreach, SalesLoft, and forecasting tools.
