Packaging Engineer
Tuopu is seeking for a detail-oriented Packaging Engineer to develop innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging solutions for our products. The Packaging Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, procurement, logistics, marketing, and suppliers to ensure packaging meets performance, quality, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop packaging.
- Select appropriate packaging materials based on product requirements and update obsolete materials.
- Conduct packaging performance testing, including transit, compression, drop, vibration, and environmental testing.
- Develop packaging specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate packaging trials and support new product launches.
- Work with suppliers to source and qualify packaging materials and components.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations, customer requirements, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to improve shipping efficiency and reduce product damage.
- Drive sustainability initiatives by reducing material usage, increasing recyclability, and minimizing waste.
- Maintain packaging documentation, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering change records.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials, or a related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in packaging engineering or product packaging development.
- Knowledge of packaging materials such as corrugated fiberboard, plastics, paper, foam, bubble bag, etc.
- Experience with packaging testing standards (e.g., ASTM, ISTA, ISO, PDS).
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and project management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
- Be familiar with Customer's/OEM's portals (Tesla, Rivian, etc.).
- Experience with ERP or PLM systems.
