The DC Hardware Engineering team is seeking a Temporary Lab/Test Mechanical Engineer to support product validation, reliability testing, and laboratory operations.
This role will be responsible for planning, executing, and analyzing mechanical and environmental tests, ensuring test integrity, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to drive product quality and performance.
Please consider that this is a temporary position (1 year).
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Plan, execute, and monitor mechanical and environmental qualification tests using thermal chambers, shock systems, vibration tables, and other laboratory equipment.
- Develop and implement test methods and procedures to evaluate product strength, durability, reliability, and environmental performance.
- Analyze test data, identify trends, and provide engineering recommendations based on results.
- Generate comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, reports, failure analyses, and traceability records.
- Support troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and corrective actions for product and test-related issues.
- Partner with design, validation, reliability, and manufacturing teams to ensure test objectives align with program requirements.
- Support laboratory equipment calibration, metrology activities, and measurement system validation.
- Contribute to preventive maintenance planning and continuous improvement initiatives for laboratory processes and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, engineering best practices, and quality requirements.

Minimum qualifications , you must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position:
- Bachelor's or BS degree in a relevant field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science) or equivalent experience:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in:
- supporting product validation, reliability testing, laboratory operations, or engineering test activities.
- operating and troubleshooting environmental and mechanical test equipment, including thermal chambers, shock systems, and vibration tables.
- additive manufacturing (3D printing), prototyping, and engineering lab processes.
- laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, and preventive maintenance practices.
- reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, GDandT, and test requirements.
Must have unrestricted - permanent right to work in Mexico (this position is not eligible for employment-based visa/immigration sponsorship).
Preferred Qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
- Experience performing dye-and-pry analysis and failure investigations.
- Knowledge of thermal management, heat transfer, and thermo-mechanical testing.
- Experience with electromechanical systems, sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
- Familiarity with reliability, environmental, and product qualification testing methodologies.
- Experience supporting server, data center, electronics, or hardware development programs.
- Working knowledge of CAD tools and engineering drawing creation or interpretation.
- Experience with statistical analysis, measurement system analysis (MSA), or Design of Experiments (DOE).
Familiarity with industry standards related to mechanical, environmental, and reliability testing.
