Position Overview & Purpose
The Jr. Accounting Specialist - Cochlear Mexico supports the Finance function in maintaining accurate, compliant, and timely financial records for the CMEX legal entity. The role assists with day-to-day accounting operations, including transaction processing, reconciliations, financial reporting support, and compliance with internal policies and mexican statutory requirements.
The position contributes to the month-end close process, prepares supporting documentation, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable financial information and strong financial controls.
Requirements
Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
Experience
-
1-3 years of experience in accounting, financial operations, or audit.

Basic knowledge of the mexican accounting standards and IFRS.

Familiarity with Mexican tax compliance requirements (e.g., CFDI issuance, e-Accounting guidelines, VAT/ISR basics) and interacting with supporting documentation from government portals.

Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred) is an advantage.

Exposure to month-end close, reconciliations, or financial reporting is beneficial.

Intermediate to Adnaced English is a Plus
Essential Functions
Accounting Operations & Transaction Processing
-
Process and validate accounting transactions in SAP S/4HANA, ensuring correct GL accounts, cost centers, tax codes, and supporting documentation.

Prepare journal entries for routine transactions such as accruals, provisions, intercompany entries, depreciation, and amortizations.
-
Maintain documentation and working papers supporting accounting entries and financial records.
-
Assist with accounts receivable processes, including monitoring collections, tracking invoices, and preparing aging reports.
-
Support bank reconciliations and monitor daily bank transactions.
-
Review T&E/Concur and corporate card transactions to ensure policy compliance and correct accounting treatment.

Support the preparation of payments to vendors and suppliers ensuring adherence to the company policies and ensuring the correct accounting treatment.
Month-End Close Support
- Assist in the monthly close process, including preparation of journal entries and supporting documentation.

Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
-
Maintain clear and organized documentation to support internal and external audits.
-
Support preparation of monthly financial reports and management reports.
-
Ensure assigned tasks are completed according to the corporate close calendar deadlines.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Follow Cochlear policies and internal control standards related to accounting, treasury, expenses, procurement, and tax reporting.

Support Mexican tax compliance routines by reviewing tax calculations, validating tax treatments in postings, and ensuring timely preparation of required information for filings.

Prepare and issue CFDI payment complements (Complementos de Pago) for PPD collections as required, ensuring correct linkage, tax data, and compliance with CFDI rules.

Maintain and archive statutory support documentation, acknowledgements, and compliance

certificates (e.g., SAT/IMSS/INFONAVIT opinions where applicable) and escalate any warnings or notices.

Maintain documentation required for internal and external audits.

Identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation of better financial controls.
Financial Analysis & Business Support
-
Assist with expense monitoring and variance analysis versus budget.

Support preparation of financial analysis for business initiatives, projects, and operational reviews.

Provide financial data and support to cross-functional teams such as Commercial, Logistics, and HR/P&C.
-
Contribute to improving financial processes and reporting efficiency.
Technical Skills
-
Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).
-
ERP Systems: SAP R3/SAP B1/4HANA (preferred) / SAP HANA; expenses reporting applications; and banking platforms.

Technical knowledge of IFRS fundamentals (incl. revenue, provisions, leases) and Mexican tax legislation (LISR, LIVA, CFF) relevant to day-to-day operations.
