Develop and oversee EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) policies and procedures to protect the well-being of personnel and the environment. Identify and control risks, coordinate emergency response teams, comply with applicable regulations, and strengthen a preventative culture through ongoing training and internal audits.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and implement EHS programs and safety strategies aligned with legal requirements
· Ensure compliance with Mexican regulations (STPS, SEMARNAT, Protección Civil)
· Lead and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
· Manage and coordinate government inspections and audits
· Conduct risk assessments for machinery, processes, and workplace conditions
· Investigate accidents and incidents, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions
· Manage hazardous waste and environmental controls
· Coordinate Safety & Hygiene Commission (CSH) and safety walkthroughs
· Implement and monitor EPP programs and compliance
· Issue and control special work permits (heights, welding, electrical, confined spaces)
· Develop and execute emergency response plans and brigades
· Lead safety training and awareness campaigns
· Ensure proper documentation and communication of EHS procedures
· Participate in continuous improvement and audit processes (internal & external)
· Drive initiatives to reduce risks, costs, and improve safety performance
Candidate Profile
Required Education & Experience
- Education: Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in safety, health, and environmental roles, preferably in industrial or manufacturing settings.
- Bilingual: Advanced English
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of international standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Knowledge of hazardous waste management and industrial emergency response.
- Knowledge of Mexican regulations from the STPS, SSA, and SEMARNAT, as well as local and international safety and hygiene standards.
- Extensive knowledge of occupational safety and hygiene regulations, environmental legislation, and workplace risk management.
- Ability to design, deliver, and evaluate safety, health, and environmental training programs.
- Solid experience in managing emergency brigades and implementing incident response protocols.
