1. Regional Sales Manager — LATAM North (Mexico, Central America, Caribbean)
Independent Contractor (Service Agreement)
About the Engagement
As a key contributor to the commercial team, the Regional Sales Manager for LATAM North will manage and grow Psomagen's customer base in the region while promoting Psomagen's research genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic services. Focusing primarily on the Academic, Government, and Biotech sectors, this engagement works cross-functionally to retain existing accounts and develop new ones, driving revenue across Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. The ideal contractor will have a solid understanding of NGS markets and the ability to seamlessly manage cross-border sample logistics to our laboratories in the US or South Korea.
This is a remote engagement based in Mexico and may be performed anywhere within the same time zones (GMT-5 to GMT-8); Mexico City or Monterrey preferred.
Engagement Type
This is an independent-contractor engagement under a service agreement, not an offer of employment. The contractor renders the services described below as an independent party and is responsible for their own taxes, statutory contributions, and any applicable local registrations. The contractor reports to the designated Psomagen manager and submits periodic activity reports specifying the services rendered.
Account Types
The accounts handled under this engagement fall into two distinct types, and the Fee Structure below is built around this distinction:
1. Inherited Accounts
Existing customer accounts that are assigned to the contractor at the start of, or during, the engagement. The contractor's responsibility for these accounts is to retain them, ensure continuity of service, and grow their ongoing volume. No origination effort is required to obtain these accounts; the value the contractor adds is in management and retention.
2. Self-Developed Accounts
New customer accounts that the contractor independently identifies, develops, and closes within the designated territory. These accounts are originated through the contractor's own prospecting and business-development efforts, and represent net-new business to Psomagen.
Responsibilities
As part of the NGS Sales function and under general direction:
- Manage and retain the inherited accounts within the designated territory, ensuring continuity of service and growth of ongoing volume.
- Identify, qualify, and close self-developed (new) accounts at academic institutions, government research centers, and local biotech companies.
- Promote Psomagen's research genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic services, primarily within the Academic, Government, and Biotech sectors, through face-to-face visits and visual communication methods.
- Build and maintain high-level relationships with customer accounts, and develop appropriate business relationships with principal investigators (PIs), decision-makers, and influencers.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date account and contact details within Psomagen's CRM (HubSpot).
- Advise local researchers on where to send their biological samples (e.g., DNA, RNA, tissues) — to Psomagen's laboratories in the US or South Korea as applicable — and inform them of the relevant customs precautions in accordance with the shipping instructions provided by Psomagen.
- Provide regular and accurate sales-forecast updates, including billed and in-process customer projects.
Fee Structure
The service fee is composed of the following three elements. The two incentive elements correspond directly to the two account types described above. Specific rates and percentages to be defined in the service agreement:
a. Base Service Fee (time-based)
A fee for time worked on the engagement. Where the fee is paid on an hourly basis, the contractor is required to submit a timesheet reporting the hours worked.
b. Inherited-Account Incentive (retention & growth)
An incentive tied to the retention and continued growth of the inherited accounts. This rewards the contractor for keeping assigned accounts active and expanding their ongoing volume, rather than for originating them.
c. Self-Developed-Account Incentive (new business)
An incentive tied to net-new revenue from accounts the contractor originates independently. This rewards business-development effort and the acquisition of customers new to Psomagen.
The specific base rate and the two incentive percentages will be set out in the service agreement.
