Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and fully bilingual (English/Spanish) Immigration Legal Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a primary point of contact for clients and play a critical part in preparing immigration filings. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, exceptional communication skills, and a deep sense of empathy for clients navigating the complexities of the immigration system.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Communication & Intake: Conduct initial intake interviews, gather case facts, and maintain regular, compassionate communication with clients in both English and Spanish to provide case updates.
- Document Preparation: Draft, translate, and assemble a high volume of immigration petitions and applications, including family-based petitions, adjustment of status, naturalization, consular processing, humanitarian relief (U-visas, VAWA, Asylum), and employment-based visas.
- Evidence Gathering: Work closely with clients to collect supporting documentation, birth/marriage certificates, financial records, and personal statements, ensuring accurate English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English translations.
- Case Management: Maintain digital and physical case files, track deadlines, manage the attorney's calendar (court dates, interviews, filings), and ensure all tracking systems are kept up to date.
- Administrative Support: Screen incoming calls, schedule consultations, process incoming mail, and prepare completed packages for submission to USCIS, NVC, and EOIR (Immigration Court).
Qualifications & Skills
- Language Proficiency: Native or professional fluency in both written and spoken English and Spanish is strictly required. Must be capable of translating legal concepts and personal documents accurately between both languages.
- Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years of experience working as a legal assistant or paralegal, with a preferred focus on Immigration Law.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with legal practice management and immigration software (e.g., PrimaFacie, Docketwise, or Clio) and standard office suites (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $10,000.00 - $20,000.00 per month
