Job Summary:
Role Overview:
We are establishing a vertically integrated manufacturing operation in Mexico with advanced machinery sourced from China. Our goal is to produce high-quality steel framing products (via roll forming), PVC pipes and doors, and gypsum board (sheetrock) for export to the U.S. and domestic markets.
We are seeking an experienced Factory Manager to lead this ambitious initiative from the ground up. This individual must possess deep technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment, especially roll forming lines, PVC extrusion, and gypsum board processing, and be capable of overseeing the setup, hiring, training, and scaling of a multi-product factory.
Key Responsibilities:Factory Setup & Launch
Collaborate with Chinese machinery manufacturers and installation teams to coordinate the receipt, installation, and commissioning of production equipment.
Translate operational manuals, optimize production line layout, and ensure a smooth transition from test runs to full-scale production.
Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and production workflows.
Production Oversight
Lead day-to-day operations across steel roll forming, PVC line production, and sheetrock board fabrication.
Manage and monitor machine performance, maintenance schedules, material flow, and daily output targets.
Ensure products meet quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget.
Team Building & Leadership
Hire, train, and supervise production workers, line supervisors, and technicians.
Create a high-performance culture focused on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Develop training programs for machine operators and quality control staff based on equipment specifications.
Scaling & Optimization
Plan the phased expansion of production lines (starting with roll forming, followed by different product manufacturing).
Work closely with senior leadership on capacity planning, equipment upgrades, and investment justification.
Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to drive productivity and cost control.
Compliance, Quality & Reporting
Ensure compliance with Mexican labor laws, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
Lead quality assurance efforts and implement preventive actions based on root-cause analysis.
Provide performance reports and recommendations to executive management.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Minimum 5+ years of experience managing a manufacturing facility, preferably in steel, PVC, or building material production.
Proven experience commissioning and operating Chinese-origin roll forming and extrusion machines.
Strong knowledge of material handling, mechanical systems, plant layout, and maintenance planning.
Fluent in English; Spanish are highly desirable for effective team and vendor communication.
Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities; hands-on and proactive management style.
Familiarity with IMMEX, maquiladora operations, and export logistics is a plus.
