Your Job:
You will own and optimize production methods and resources on the Guadalajara fiber production floor to improve throughput, reduce cycle time, and ensure reliable, safe operations. Using time-and-motion data, capacity analysis, Lean methodologies, and cross-functional collaboration, you'll design and standardize work systems, layouts, and tooling to deliver measurable productivity and quality improvements across multiple product lines.
Our Team:
You'll work within the plant Industrial Engineering/Operations team supporting fiber areas in Guadalajara. Primary day-to-day contacts include Production Line Supervisors and Leaders, Planner, NPI, Process & QA Engineers, and Maintenance. The role partners closely with Facilities to tune production lines and support continuous improvement across manufacturing.
What You Will Do:
- Drive capacity and cycle-time improvements by owning time-and-motion studies and applying the results to capacity analysis for products, processes, and part numbers.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to increase productivity, tool availability, utilization, and cost-efficiency while maintaining quality and safety.
- Design, propose, and maintain productive area layouts and ergonomic workstations that optimize flow, space, and equipment usage.
- Champion Lean methods (line balancing, value stream mapping, DMAIC, Kaizen, 5S) and lead structured problem-solving sessions to remove constraints and standardize best practices.
- Translate operational requirements into actionable plans with Facilities and Maintenance to execute and tune production lines on the shop floor.
- Develop and maintain work standards, allowances, and documentation from work studies; coach teams to sustain improvements.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical/Mechatronic, or Electronic Engineering.
- 7+ years of Industrial Engineering experience, including a minimum of 5 years working with Lean manufacturing practices.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, FlexSim, and Excel/analytical tools; experience implementing and sustaining 5S.
- Demonstrated mechanical/structural aptitude and blueprint-reading skills; experience designing ergonomic workstations and practical, hands-on problem solving.
What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience supporting production lines such as HLA, SMT, cables, and fiber optics.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
Strong English communication skills (- 80% fluency, spoken and written).
- Experience with ISO 7/8 cleanroom environments and gowning requirements.
- Prior experience in NPI (New Product Introduction) or direct facilities coordination on line builds and layout changes.
