Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, organized, and detail-oriented Bilingual Bookkeeper to join our team in Cancún.
Our organization operates between Mexico and the United States, so the ideal candidate must have strong bookkeeping experience, be fully bilingual in English and Spanish, and have hands-on experience using QuickBooks.
The candidate should also understand Mexican bookkeeping and administrative requirements, including invoicing, expense documentation, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and coordination with external accountants.
This is a full-time, on-site position for someone who is comfortable working in an international business environment and managing financial information accurately and confidentially.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in QuickBooks.
- Record income, expenses, payments, invoices, and financial transactions.
- Perform weekly and monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare and organize invoices, receipts, expense reports, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor outstanding customer balances and vendor payments.
- Assist with cash-flow tracking and financial reporting.
- Prepare weekly and monthly bookkeeping reports for management.
- Support payroll documentation and employee expense tracking.
- Maintain organized digital and physical financial records.
- Coordinate with the company’s accountants in Mexico and the United States.
- Assist with Mexican invoicing and bookkeeping processes, including CFDI documentation.
- Verify that expenses and invoices meet the documentation requirements requested by the Mexican accounting team.
- Help maintain proper records for multiple related companies or business divisions.
- Identify discrepancies, missing documentation, or unusual transactions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding financial and company information.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of professional bookkeeping experience.
- Strong, hands-on experience using QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop.
- Professional-level English and Spanish.
- Experience with Mexican bookkeeping, invoicing, and financial documentation.
- Understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general bookkeeping principles.
- Experience working with bank accounts, credit cards, vendor payments, and expense reports.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to management.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
- Must live in Cancún or be able to commute daily to the workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or technical training in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working for a U.S.-based or international company.
- Familiarity with both Mexican pesos and U.S. dollar transactions.
- Experience with multiple companies, cost centers, or business units.
- Familiarity with SAT requirements, CFDI invoices, payroll records, and coordination with Mexican accountants.
- Experience in healthcare, medical services, hospitality, or another service-based business.
- Experience preparing management reports, budgets, or cash-flow projections.
Important Clarification
This position focuses primarily on internal bookkeeping and financial administration. The bookkeeper will work closely with the company’s external accountants and management team but will not necessarily be responsible for independently filing taxes or providing formal tax opinions.
