The Process Control and Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, owning, and continuously improving the plant’s process control and automation systems to enhance safety, operational reliability, productivity, and sustainability. The role ensures automation is used as a strategic enabler of risk reduction and performance improvement, supporting the plant’s current and future operating model.
- Own and maintain the plant Automation and Process Control Roadmap aligned with business, safety, and sustainability objectives.
- Define, implement, and optimize control strategies including loops, sequences, recipes, interlocks, and permissives.
- Ensure automation systems support process safety as independent protection layers.
- Support productivity and variability reduction through standardized and advanced control solutions.
- Own energy and utilities automation, including metering and monitoring architecture.
- Act as discipline authority for automation and control within capital projects.
- Ensure all automation changes comply with Management of Change (MOC) requirements.
- Define and maintain automation, control, alarm management, and HMI standards.

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, Control, or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automation and process control in an industrial or chemical environment
- Hands-on experience with PLC systems
- Strong knowledge of process safety principles related to automation
- Experience supporting capital projects and system commissioning
