About the Role
We are seeking a Process Grinding Engineer to support our manufacturing operations in a high-performance automotive environment. This role is responsible for owning and optimizing centerless grinding processes to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are consistently achieved. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, highly organized engineer with deep experience in centerless and precision grinding, strong shop floor execution, and the ability to drive stable, high-capability processes.
Key Responsibilities
· Own centerless grinding processes, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and production targets
· Provide hands-on shop floor support, troubleshooting grinding issues in real time
· Optimize grinding parameters including feeds, speeds, and dressing cycles to improve performance and consistency
· Define and optimize grinding wheel selection, dressing practices, and wear management
· Diagnose and resolve grinding defects such as size variation, chatter, burn, taper, roundness issues, and surface finish concerns
· Drive improvements in OEE, scrap reduction, setup reduction, and process efficiency
· Support new product launches (APQP, PPAP readiness) and process validation activities
· Develop and maintain standard work, process documentation, work instructions, PFMEA, and control plans
· Ensure process discipline and standardization through audits, training, and sustainment activities
· Perform root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why) and implement permanent corrective actions
· Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to drive results
· Support tooling and fixturing validation and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field
· 2–5 years of experience in grinding or manufacturing engineering
· Hands-on experience with centerless grinding processes – REQUIRED
· Experience in precision grinding with tight tolerances and surface finish requirements
· Strong understanding of grinding parameters (feeds, speeds, dressing cycles)
· Strong understanding of grinding wheel selection and wear control
· Experience in automotive manufacturing environments
· Knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and IATF 16949 requirements
· Experience with process capability (Cp, Cpk) and statistical process control
· Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
