We are seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to spearhead backend development efforts for our Internal Developer Platform (IDP) constructed on Backstage. This position centers on delivering scalable services, streamlined developer workflows, and effective platform integrations.
Responsibilities

Direct the creation of Backstage backend plugins and services that power core platform functionality

Take ownership of backend architecture spanning the catalog, scaffolder, workflows, and APIs, prioritizing scalability and dependability

Establish connections with tools including Git, CI/CD systems, Kubernetes, and Argo Workflows to simplify platform functionality

Architect and roll out developer workflows and automated pipelines aimed at boosting engineering productivity

Build RBAC, authentication, and inter-service security measures to safeguard platform assets and data
-
Guide the creation and continuous refinement of scalable microservices architecture

Coach team members and champion the adoption of strong engineering practices organization-wide
Requirements

A minimum of 5 years of applicable experience

At least one year spent leading and directing development teams

Solid background in Node.js/TypeScript for backend engineering

Direct experience working with Backstage, covering backend plugin creation and API work
-
Track record of constructing APIs and microservices to support scalable platform capabilities

Working knowledge of Kubernetes and container-based environments
-
Background with Argo Workflows or comparable orchestration and workflow tools

Excellent English communication skills (B2 level or higher)

Background working with CI/CD approaches to enable automated building, testing, and deployment

Working familiarity with GitHub Actions for streamlining workflow and pipeline automation

Understanding of platform engineering concepts to help architect scalable internal developer platforms

Familiarity with authentication and authorization standards, including OAuth and SSO

Exposure to PostgreSQL or similar database systems for handling data storage and management
