The Advanced Battery Systems Lab & Validation Requirements Manager defines and manages laboratory, reliability, and validation needs for new-technology battery systems, including low-voltage lithium-ion batteries, intelligent battery systems, battery electronics, and next-generation energy storage products.
Convert system, hardware, software, functional, customer, and automotive electronics product validation requirements into DV/PV validation test specifications and test plans.
Manage the engineering lab, equipment, capacity, and operational resources required to execute testing.
Lead DV/PV validation management, qualification, contracting, and oversight of external laboratories and technical vendors in Mexico.
What You’ll Do (Impact Areas)
Lab Strategy, Capability & Validation Planning: Define and manage laboratory needs based on product roadmap, system architecture, technical risk, and DV/PV demand; oversee lab operations, equipment readiness, capacity, maintenance, and utilization for electrical, environmental, durability, abuse, communication, and system integration testing; and develop DV/PV test specifications and plans with clear objectives, methods, setups, timing, and acceptance criteria.
Reliability, Qualification & Technical Readiness: Assess reliability and qualification requirements for DV/PV across electrical loads, thermal conditions, vibration, environmental exposure, communication robustness, fault handling, and expected product life, ensuring test coverage supports design maturity, customer and regulatory expectations, and release readiness.
Lab Construction, Expansion & External Test Ecosystem: Act as project manager for new lab construction and expansion—defining scope, technical requirements, layouts, schedule, budget, risks, and installation readiness—while identifying external test equipment and service needs, qualifying Mexico laboratories and vendors, and supporting technical agreements, SOWs, and contracts for outsourced validation.
Resource & Capability Planning: Manage the technical personnel, equipment, and operational resources required for lab operations, validation planning, test execution, and vendor coordination; identify capability and capacity gaps; and recommend hiring, training, outsourcing, calibration, maintenance, or infrastructure actions.
Compliance, Safety & Digital Verification: Ensure readiness against IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 26262, and ISO 21434 principles, and support functional verification of battery systems using parametric testers, such as CANoe and vTESTstudio, for communication-based testing, automated execution, and result assessment.
Working knowledge of parametric testers, such as CANoe and vTESTstudio, for test definition, execution, and result review.
Management of lab equipment, capacity, maintenance, calibration, and operational resources.
Knowledge of quality and automotive standards such as IATF 16949, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 26262, and ISO 21434.
What You Bring (Qualifications)
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Reliability Engineering, or equivalent.
8+ years in DV/PV validation, reliability, laboratory operations, engineering lab management, or engineering project management.
Experience with advanced battery systems, such as lithium-ion batteries, intelligent battery systems, battery electronics, or related electro-electronic products.
