About the role.
The Screenings Specialist role focuses on the end-to-end work required to deliver Netflix content to off-service audiences at the best possible quality. The core of this work comprises:
Screening Assets - Manage comprehensive asset mastering for all tiers of Netflix screenings, collaborating with filmmakers/showrunners and Netflix Post teams to ensure 100% technical integrity, peak presentation quality, and error-free delivery across all events.
Screening Asset Distribution - Coordinating with event leads and the venue to ensure the correct content version is delivered securely, on time, and with no playback issues.
Screening Production - Executing flawless in-person and virtual screenings, including equipment setup, calibration, filmmaker/showrunner attended tech checks, and show playback.
In addition, the team provides asset-heavy support for a high volume of award submissions and VOD screening links.
The Screening Specialist needs to have a strong understanding of digital cinema packages and media creation. An expertise in post-production, theatrical screenings, and distribution/operations, with experience working on promotional events where flexibility is crucial for success. They should be able to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Creation of Screening Assets including but not limited to: DCPs, Media Files (h264 and Apple ProRes), DVDs/BDs, viewing links, and more.
Work closely with Screenings and Post teams to anticipate asset needs in advance of incoming screening requests.
Familiarizing themselves with their assigned titles to anticipate potential issues (aspect ratios, forced narratives).
Familiarizing themselves with the associated title campaigns to better anticipate and prioritize timelines, budgets and workload.
Building and tracking asset delivery timelines to ensure assets are completed in advance of relevant campaign dates and incoming screening requests.
Communicate effectively with various cross-functional teams to ensure proper planning, availability and delivery of material.
Maintain, curate and expand a regional network of digital cinema mastering and distribution facilities and technical vendors.
Liaise with filmmakers to complete necessary cuts/edits for the creation of screening assets, and coordinate proper QC of the final asset.
Conduct qualitative review of the created files to ensure they are correct and meet the creation specifications.
Manage scheduling, tracking, and verification of international deliveries of screenings, festivals, and theatrical assets to venues.
Manage digital cinema audio/visual engineers at premieres and special screenings.
Troubleshooting file based delivery and creation issues in a quick and constructive manner.
This position is part of the broader Marketing organization and sits within the Events function. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively prioritize tasks and initiatives from a marketing perspective in alignment with broader marketing objectives.
This role is based in Mexico City, but the ideal candidate should have the flexibility to travel abroad if needed.
Expertise
The ideal candidate for this role should have expertise in the following topics:
Event production - Knowledge of the event production ecosystem in Mexico, including suppliers, venues, average market prices, and local expert contacts according to the event's needs. Leadership and operational capacity to run an event from a technical standpoint.
ROS Execution - Oversight of complete in-theatre event run of show, from Q&As to musical performances or presentations.
A/V Displays & Systems - Beyond cinema projection, delivering optimal presentation on anything from TVs to large LED walls, whether in-theatre or at the event.
Lighting Design - Provide in-theatre stage and room lighting to coincide with the ambience and feel of the overall event.
A/V Capture - Coordinate with video and photo teams for in-theatre setup and lighting for recording and live-streaming.
