Commodity Manager
Planning, directing, and supervising all purchasing activities for the direct materials that the organization purchases. Comply with its price, quality, environmental, and ethics controls. Research, identify, evaluate and select suppliers. Negotiate terms for major purchases within established authority limits. Analyze and evaluate external price trends and new product offerings to reduce long term purchasing costs. Select and manage relationships with the main suppliers so that the organization has access to satisfactory services. Develop long term plans for organizational supply to minimize risk and maximize value. Resolve disputes and shortfalls with suppliers for cost, quality, and delivery to satisfactory conclusion.
As Supplier / Component Development Leader , you are responsible for technical and process evaluation for potential new vendors to fully assess capabilities and select/award potential vendors assuring competitiveness and ensuring that suppliers systems and processes are effective in producing and delivering parts to meet quality and schedule requirements. This will include coaching/coordinating with tool room and/or operations as applicable
Coordinator is responsible for managing existing and new projects for PKC concerning outsourced parts, assuring capability of product supply with the right quality (including trouble shooting supporting operation).
Responsibilities/ Skills
- Manage USD $110M+ Annual Direct Material spend
- Manage ~400 Suppliers by negotiating the best total landed cost for AEES.
- Develop comprehensive commodity strategies encompassing total acquisition cost, technology and innovation , geographic optimization and competitive advantage.
- Manage relationship, performance KPIs, and execution with suppliers
- Ensure Compliance throughout Direct Purchasing Organization (Including the Supplier base).
- Negotiate long term supply agreements
- Participate in all Supplier Disputes to resolve quickly and fairly with minimal impact to the operation.
- Work with Treasury and/or Accounts Payable to resolve Credit Hold situations.
- Elaborate / Participate in Supplier debits as required.
- Lead cross functional teams to develop and implement cost reduction projects
- Effective early supplier integration into new program launch
- Manage team of Direct buyers to fulfill objectives of department
- Establish team and individual objectives with tangible metrics that are in line with the Company Business Plan.
- Support mainly Grand Traverse Stamping (GTS) and Torreon Plant 2 (TRN2) in any operational issue related to quality or delivery
- With outsourced tooling issues
- With process improvements ideas
Coaching Others transferring technical knowledge related to component development and other direct commodity processes
- Develop systems to facilitate document control
- Develop Training schedule for the team. This includes commodity buyers, supplier quality engineers, etc.
- Transfer knowledge and experience in costs and processes for different commodities to SQE and Commodity
Support SQE in specific projects related to process improvements in:
- Quality – chronic quality problems that can impact customer and/or PKC line
- Support SC in specific projects related to process improvements in:
- Delivery – assessing and assuring there is right capacity available to supply. Support in escalations for critical issues
- Comply with and ensure compliance with PKC Group's Environment, Health and Safety Policy and Energy Policy.
- Comply with the environmental, health, safety and energy requirements set forth in Federal, State and Municipal legislation and applicable regulations related to our activities and products to comply with the EMASS (Energy, Environment, Health and Safety) procedures inherent to their work position.
- Contribute to the effectiveness of the Energy, Environment, Health and Safety Management System, including the achievement of the EMASS Objectives and Goals.
Profile.
Education and Experience :
- College Degree on International Business, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5 yrs + in the automotive industry
- 3 yrs + experience in a Purchasing role
- Experience in 1 other function – materials / supply chain preferred
- Experience with operations in Mexico in a support role
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the automotive supplier quality or quality in different production processes
- Minimum of five (3) years’ experience in various processes of component development design and manufacturing (Stamping or other Metal Fabrications, Molding and Extrusion is a must)
Experience in component development of multiple commodities is preferable

Skills/ Knowledge requirements :
- Deep knowledge of automotive customer supplier sourcing requirements
- Deep knowledge of US contract law and contract formation
- English and Spanish – 100% fluent
- Plans and execution of responsibilities with minimal direction
- Experience in interpreting diagnostic manuals, technical service bulletins, etc.
- Proven knowledge of stamping and other metal fabrications (I.e. Machining, etc.)
- Proven knowledge of molding & extrusion
- Basic knowledge of electrical test equipment or in electrical and electronics components is a plus
