About the role
MatchGrant is seeking a Business Development Representative (BDR) to drive our outbound pipeline. If you enjoy tinkering with tools like Apollo, Clay, and Lemlist , love building smart lead lists, and get a kick out of seeing your campaigns generate meetings, this is your spot.
You’ll focus on top-of-funnel lead generation : identifying the right nonprofit prospects, building and running outbound sequences, and booking qualified appointments for our AEs. You won’t be running demos or negotiating contracts yet, but you’ll be a critical part of the revenue team—and there’s a clear path to move into an AE role if that’s your goal.
What you’ll do
Set up, manage, and optimize campaigns in Apollo, Clay, and Lemlist .
Build and maintain targeted prospect lists and lead datasets using Clay and other enrichment tools.
Create and iterate on multi-step sequences across email and LinkedIn.
Own the outbound tech stack
Drive top-of-funnel pipeline
Research and identify high-fit nonprofit prospects (EDs, Development leaders, CFOs, etc.).
Launch and manage outbound campaigns that generate qualified meetings for the AEs.
Monitor deliverability, reply rates, and booking rates, and adjust accordingly.
Test, learn, and optimize
A/B test subject lines, copy, and touch patterns to improve conversion.
Collaborate with AEs and leadership on messaging, ICP tweaks, and persona targeting.
Track performance metrics and report on what’s working and what isn’t.
Support the sales team
Qualify inbound and outbound responses according to criteria agreed with the AEs.
Book and route meetings to the correct AE with clean context and notes.
Keep CRM and tools up to date so the pipeline is accurate and visible.
Grow into more responsibility
Learn the product, customer stories, and sales process deeply.
Over time, take on more discovery responsibility and potentially move into a full AE role if desired.
What we’re looking for
You might be a great fit if you:
Have experience as a BDR/SDR/Lead Gen Specialist/Appointment Setter in a SaaS or tech environment.
Have hands-on experience with Clay (or similar data/automation tools) and are comfortable talking about how you’ve used it.
Are familiar with, or eager to master, tools like Apollo and Lemlist for outbound campaigns.
Understand the basics of outbound lead generation :
Building lists
Running sequences
Managing replies
Booking meetings for AEs
Are technical enough to troubleshoot and improve campaigns (field mappings, logic, filters, segmentation) without getting lost.
Are organized and detail-oriented—comfortable managing multiple campaigns and keeping data clean.
Communicate clearly in writing (you’ll be writing a lot of emails and LinkedIn messages).
Are proactive and self-directed in a remote setting—you don’t need someone watching over your shoulder to get things done.
Bonus points if:
You’ve done outbound for nonprofits , fundraising tools, or mission-driven tech before.
You’ve worked in an early-stage startup and like wearing multiple hats.
You enjoy experimenting with AI tools to improve list building, copy, or workflow.
