As a Packet Core Engineer, you will contribute to the technical implementation and operation of core network solutions that sit at the heart of our customers’ mobile networks. Working closely with senior architects and lead engineers, you will help translate business and technical requirements into robust, cloud‑native Packet Core deployments that are reliable, secure, and efficient to operate at scale.
You will join a highly skilled Packet Core team focused on delivering and operating Ericsson’s industry‑leading 5G Core portfolio in a reliable and predictable way, increasing automation and efficiency in our delivery and operations, and continuously building competence in cloud, containers and emerging technologies such as AI/ML. This is a collaborative, learning‑oriented environment where people challenge and support each other and feel accountable for customer outcomes.
What you will do
Contribute to the technical design and implementation of 4G/5G Packet Core (EPC/5GC) solutions, under the guidance of senior architects and lead engineers.
Analyze customer environments and technical requirements, providing input and data to solution design and improvement activities.
Implement and support automation and CI/CD in Packet Core delivery and operations, using tools such as Cloud Core Pipelines, GitLab and CNOM for repeatable, tested deployments of CNFs on Kubernetes‑based platforms.
Support troubleshooting and problem resolution for Packet Core solutions, including log analysis, test execution and validation of fixes.
Create and maintain technical documentation, installation guides and runbooks, and actively share knowledge with peers through communities and training sessions.
The skills you bring
Hands‑on experience with 4G/5G Packet Core (EPC/5GC) in design support, integration or operations.
Fluent English skills, spoken and written.
Good understanding of IP networking, routing and security concepts relevant to mobile core networks.
Experience with cloud‑native technologies – containers, Kubernetes‑based platforms and CNFs (academic, lab or project experience also valued).
Ability to collaborate in cross‑functional, distributed teams, building strong working relationships with colleagues in different locations.
Solid problem‑solving skills, with the ability to break down issues, analyze logs and data, and propose pragmatic technical options.
A strong learning and sharing mindset, with motivation to deepen your expertise in Packet Core, cloud‑native and automation technologies.
