About the role
Eclipsyum is a U.S. holding company with operating businesses in insulation and roofing, freight, and additional subsidiaries. We are engaging a Financial Controller to own the accounting function across every entity in the group.
This is a fully remote, long-term contractor engagement for a candidate based outside the United States. You will work directly with ownership and lead a accounting team. We are not looking for part-time or project help — this is a full-time seat with real authority over how the finance function is built.
What you'll own
- Full-cycle accounting for all entities: general ledger, AR, AP, payroll accounting, month-end and year-end close
- Consolidated financial statements across entities, including intercompany transactions and eliminations
- A committed close calendar — accurate financials delivered to ownership by the same date every month
- Cash flow reporting and forecasting: weekly cash position and funding needs by entity
- Annual budgets and rolling forecasts by entity and department, with variance analysis you can explain
- Job costing and WIP reporting for the construction and home services entities; margin by job, crew, and product line
- Payroll accounting and reconciliation, coordinating with the U.S.-based HR team on payroll runs, workers' comp, and insurance audits
- Preparing schedules and workpapers for our outside U.S. CPA firm, who handles tax filings and returns
- Internal controls, approval workflows, and written SOPs for every recurring accounting process
- Ownership of the accounting stack — chart of accounts, entity structure, integrations — including cleanup or migration where it's needed
- Weekly KPI and financial reporting for the leadership meeting
- Managing, training, and holding accountable a small remote accounting team (AR, AP, and support staff)
What this role does not include: bank signatory authority, releasing payments, or signing tax filings. Those stay with U.S.-based ownership. You prepare, reconcile, and recommend; ownership approves and executes.
What we're looking for
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Demonstrated experience closing books for U.S.-based companies under U.S. GAAP — this is a hard requirement, not a preference
- Hands-on multi-entity experience: consolidations, intercompany activity, separate sets of books under one ownership group
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop), NetSuite, or a comparable ERP
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets
- A track record of building process — SOPs, controls, and reporting that did not exist before you arrived
- Fluent written and spoken English; able to present numbers clearly to operators who don't work in finance
- Reliable high-speed internet, a backup connection or power plan, and a private workspace suitable for handling confidential financial data
- Willingness to sign an NDA and work within our security requirements (company-managed accounts, MFA, no shared credentials, no storing company data on personal drives)
Preferred
- CPA, CA, CMA, or local equivalent
- Prior long-term engagement with a U.S. construction, roofing, home services, logistics, or field services company
- Job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion reporting
- U.S. multi-state payroll exposure (ADP, Gusto, Paylocity, or similar)
- ERP or accounting system implementation, migration, or cleanup
- Experience managing other remote accounting staff
- Bilingual English/Spanish
Your first 90 days
- Days 1–30: Learn the entity structure and the current state of the books. Take over the close for the operating entities.
- Days 31–60: Deliver a consolidated financial package to ownership on a fixed monthly date. Document the close process end to end.
- Days 61–90: Present a prioritized plan to fix what's broken — controls, chart of accounts, job costing, or reporting — and begin executing it.
Contract terms
- Independent contractor engagement. You are responsible for your own taxes, registrations, and any statutory contributions in your country of residence.
- Non-U.S. candidates will complete IRS Form W-8BEN (individuals) or W-8BEN-E (if contracting through your own company) before the first payment.
- We are looking for someone who stays for years, not months.
