Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.
When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
Job Summary:
This role is intentionally structured like a Project Manager / PMO execution role, but focused specifically on test management. The position owns coordination, visibility, governance support, reporting, readiness, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder alignment for testing activities across IT delivery initiatives.
Support the successful planning, coordination, execution, and reporting of testing activities across IT initiatives through strong test management discipline, monitoring, governance, and stakeholder collaboration. This role provides visibility into testing progress, quality risks, readiness, and delivery health, ensuring testing activities are executed effectively, issues are surfaced early, and project teams have the information needed to make informed delivery decisions.
What You Will Do:
-
Test Management & Execution Coordination
Lead day-to-day test coordination activities across projects, portfolios, and process-related initiatives. This includes supporting test planning, tracking milestones, coordinating resources, managing testing dependencies, and maintaining execution discipline throughout the testing lifecycle.
-
Monitoring, Reporting & Delivery Visibility
Monitor test activity health across schedules, milestones, execution progress, defects, environment readiness, risks, dependencies, and delivery commitments. Produce concise status reports, dashboards, metrics, and executive summaries to support project teams, leadership reviews, readiness decisions, and escalation discussions.
-
Test Readiness & Governance Support
Prepare materials for testing governance forums, readiness reviews, project checkpoints, and go/no-go discussions. Track decisions, document action items, ensure follow-through, and operate within standards and direction established by test management, process owners, portfolio owners, and delivery leadership.
-
Requirements, Traceability & Quality Coordination
Partner with business and IT stakeholders to clarify requirements, support walkthroughs and quality reviews, monitor requirement-related activities, and help ensure testing coverage aligns to business needs, project objectives, and delivery expectations.
-
Risk, Defect & Dependency Management
Identify, document, track, and communicate testing risks, defects, blockers, dependencies, and quality concerns. Surface issues early and work across project teams to support timely resolution and minimize delivery disruption.
-
Process Reengineering & Testing Improvement Support
Support execution of IT process reengineering, testing transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives by tracking pilots, rollout activities, roadmaps, and agreed actions. Help drive adoption of standards, tools, automation opportunities, and improved testing practices.
-
Cross-Functional Stakeholder Coordination
Serve as a central coordination point between business stakeholders, project teams, developers, testers, application owners, support teams, and leadership. Facilitate conversations, communicate updates, align roles and responsibilities, and help ensure expectations remain clear across the testing lifecycle.
-
Application Delivery & Implementation Support
Support testing activities related to application implementation, maintenance, enhancement, and issue resolution. Coordinate with IT and business professionals to understand impacts, communicate testing considerations, and help ensure implemented solutions meet business and quality expectations.
